I have to admit, given the hype, I was somewhat disappointed by the sea life expositions. I am no expert, so my impression might be wrong, but the seals, penguins and pelicans outside did not seem like having a good time and the spaces they have seemed rather dull. :/ The interior of the main building is quite pretty, the coral, shells and crustaceans exposition is very cool but I expected more live fishes in the later part. Some of the fish expositions were static figurines, a big part of the aquaria was river life which is still cool and I don't mind but it is a sea museum after all, the grand finale was the tunnel which even for me as an adult that's never seen one before was just alright but quite short and only filled with sturgeons. However, I didn't use it but I appreciate the amount of interactive stuff for children, I would have a blast if I was twenty years younger. The exterior spaces of the former fortress are also interesting to walk around. :) On the other hand, I enjoyed the naval expositions very much. Those I think are more targeted towards adults and children might get a bit bored, even though there still are some interactive features. These naval expositions are full of interesting items and information and I can sincerely recommend that part. There's also a small exhibition about noise pollution in the sea and Lithuanian military sea divers. Overall, I am bit conflicted. I will probably not visit again unless I have children of a suitable age with me but I also don't necessarily want to discourage anyone. 🤷🏻♂️
Outside of the museum, there are also ships that are visitable for free, the biggest one houses a small exposition. Those I would...
Read moreAs far as I heard the museum was renewed. Now it has quote a fun exposition of various shells, animals and coral with a couple of small but beautiful aquariums with jelly fish and coral. After going to the next floor more aquariums will meet you showing some really interesting and beautiful sea life. Even lower you will be under a "pond" and some big fishes will be swimming above your head. Inside (and outside you can see penguins and seals (water doggos) who are very playful and likes to follow your hand. The inside of the museum is really atmospheric and is fun (for kids there are separate windows a bit lower in the exposition and some glass domes to crawl under an aquarium, though that one I tires myself). Outside the museum there're separate exhibitions with little games or interactive exhibits (like a piece of a ship which is rocking). Even the road to the museum is not boring as you can see and go in some old fishing ships or visit traditional household of the fisherman. Also reserve at least a few hours for the museum itself (if you're a curious person) because in about two hours we did not manage to...
Read moreA waste of money Basicaly all of the interactable objects are either not working or are out of order for a "short time" and I'm not kidding you out of the like 30 interactable thing you can do only like 2/3 boring ones worked.
Some of it is allredy supper lazy like there's one where there's just a metal rope and you pull a sack of salt and the f-ing cable is broken don't tell me they can't fix it
The audio is garbage half of the attraction is literally qr codes like God dam what genius though it was a good idea for guest to try to listen to animal noises in a crowded room with a watter fall next to them via there phone
Ther are only 3 animal you would find interesting the rest are just lithuanian lake fish and tropical fish you can buy at any fish store for your aquarium.
The quality of most of the exhibits frankly baffled me some animals are kept in aquarium sises holdings, a literal exhibit of blacksmith would have been a cool idea but it's literally just a cardboard cutout of some people and a speaker on loop playing hammering noises
In conclusion at worse animal cruelty...
