Zamek to neogotycka budowla wybudowana w latach czterdziestych XIX wieku. W praktyce jest jedynie stylizowana na zamek poprzez wykorzystanie baszt i murów. Obecnie służy jako siedziba Muzeum regionalnego. Zbiory muzeum są bardzo ubogie, ich obejrzenie zajęło nam około 25 minut. Najcenniejszymi zabytkami są listy Balzaka do Eweliny Hańskiej. Warto zauważyć, że słynny pisarz był w zamku osobiście w 1843 roku. Jest tu trochę eksponatów etnograficznych i historycznych, ale ogólnie jest to jedno z najsłabiej wyposażonych muzeów, jakie przyszło mi odwiedzić, nie tylko na Litwie.

Ši pilis yra ir kalėjimas, ir psichiatrinė ligoninė. Tarpukariu veikė gimnazija ir komercijos mokykla. Sovietmečiu - Pirmoji vidurinė mokykla, vėliau politechnikumas. Dabar čia įsikūrę Tauragės krašto muziejus, meno mokykla, biblioteka.

Nieko viskas gerai išskyrus kad aikšteja šalia pilies savivaldybe galetu daugiau išnaudoti erdves ir tuo pačiu papildyti savo miesto biudžeta. Galėtu leisti kokiems gruzinams kepti šašlykus kokie ukrainiečiai galetu virti barščiu sriuba kepti kokius viščiukus tabake ir butu daugiau lauko staliuku tikiu kad tikrai žmonės ateitu paskanauti skirtingu šaliu virtuviu. Bet jiem terūpi išasfaltuoti negyvenamas gatves kur yra supirktos...
