Beaufort castle in Luxembourg is a partially reconstructed medieval castle ruin. It only costs 5 euro to enter. It is not ADA accessible. There is ample parking both in the two lots and on the street. The complex includes a small snack shop that specializes in the local liquor with many flavors. There’s a lot to see in this castle and hardly anyone was there visiting so I got a lot of wonderful pictures. Read moreWe visited a lot of castles while we were in Europe but Beaufort is by far my favorite. It would be fantastic if they could come up with the funds for a little more restoration but it is impressive none the less. If I had all those stairs to do everyday I would weigh a lot less.
Being able to tour at your leisure with the placards to tell you what the room you are in was used for just lets your imagination run wild!
We fell in love with their Black Currant Liqueur and brought more than a case home with us. Good thing too, they don't export any of it. If you love it find a way to take it home...
Read moreDespite Google maps saying that this place is temporarily closed, it’s open. Last entrance is at 17:15. This entrance is both to the medieval (€5) and Renaissance (an extra €7) castles. Your ticket also gets you a tasting of the delicious liqueur made on site (I think). I only looked around the medieval castle and even though it’s the ruins, it was still pretty cool. There are some signs and a pamphlet in English, and it wasn’t too crowded. There are walking trails surrounding the castle. Wish I had left some time to explore them. Well...
