I passed this stunning building on a tour in 2024 and stayed at the hotel by the river. So this year, 2025, I was determined to return and explore it. A long way, but certainly worth it and I returned home with a knight in shining armour! We had a snack of Croque Monseur and hot chocolate, did a quick walk around and got held up in the cellar whilst the rain passed over which provided an unusual opportunity to get some fun photos. Minimal but adequate food and drink offerings with very limited indoor seating and plenty of outdoor seating. It really must be divine to enjoy a drink in this setting in good weather. You can eat and drink without Gong into the castle. Once you're going around there is little shelter if the weather is wet and it can be breezy due to its exposed location so be prepared. The views all round are exemplary. Sensible sturdy non slip footwear highly recommended due to the cobbles, slopes and warn rock. There are clean toilets and good parking. I'd return and recommend this property. Thank you for a very...
Read moreBeautiful and with the bus stop at 100m.
Great views, there's audio in various languages and even events (when I went they were setting up one, didn't ask what was about).
Beware the stairs, theres quite a few inside the Castle and some of them are begging you to miss a step.
The workers there were really friendly and sweet and the souvenirs are super cool and not that expensive, specially compared to other sites souvenirs.
There are, in my opinion, two cons. 1- There's a place near a camping before arriving that if you go there you will get an amazing view of the castle crowning the forests and mountains. If you have time PLEASE check it out before or after the visit.
2- This might sound silly but it's very windy and if the weather helps it's also super sunny, so you might catch a cold or a heat stroke if you are not careful. Bring water, a cap/hat and some kind of jacket you can put on and off...
Read moreWe LOVED this castle! We visited with three adults and three kids aged 5,3, and 1. It was a short walk from the Parking lot across the street to the entrance to buy tickets. The kids were free and the tickets for adults were more than reasonably priced. There was seating for food on the second floor above the ticket desk but we didn’t eat there. Lots of souvenirs and postcards and whatnot with clean bathrooms. The castle itself was beautiful with some restoration and even has areas for events and a historical gallery with artifacts and models of the castle in its various stages. The older two kids were able to navigate the whole castle, if with close observation in some areas, and I felt comfortable wearing the baby. The map was great, wish I had gotten the audio tour now that I’ve done one elsewhere. Make sure to stop at one of the observation decks on the way to or from, it’s such a...
