On our short stop in Esch-sur-Sûre we decided to have a look at the castle that oversees this small town. It must have been a huge castle in the past judging by the the remains that still stand. There is a relatively well maintained footpath up to the castle, and the ruins. The short path up is not suitable for wheelchairs and real elderly - and probably a bit slippery when wet - but don't let this scare you off: it is not steep, and the views over Esch-sur-Sûre, the river Sûre (Sauer) and surroundings are really nice...

Parking is available in the village for free. You can also set near the river in the village and enjoy the transparency and purity of the water. The road to the castle in google map is wrong and we had to ask to know from where to start...
