Beautiful lake, stunning views of the surrounding landscape as well, local guide was informative and spoke excellent English. Only takes about 1-1.5 hours to hike around at a leisurely pace, but if you want to stay longer, you could as it's a very relaxing spot. Only loses 1 star because, like others have mentioned, you will get pestered to buy random souvenirs from some of the locals, who although persistent they were by no means the worst we encountered as we headed south. The road to get there is bad, but again, I've seen much worse in Madagascar, so don't let that put you off. It was worth a visit if you have an afternoon spare...

But it's so worth the effort. Once you get to the bottom, you can swim in the Crater lake, take a boat ride around (highly recommend) because you see the rocks with their many hues and designs up close and can see bats. Also highly recommend the Z Zipline. It's lots of fun, very affordable and you end up in the water with a splash. Lots of fun. Take your time and don't rush...
