Read moreI went Mulanje mountain with my husband and my inlaws for a breather and also to hike. We tried to book some places on line but weren't sure if we would like but we still booked the Likhubula CCAP Lodge which is a nice spot for hiking but not a good place to sleep, more mosquitos , curios seller's loitering outside the rooms which is disturbing for privacy and we were saddened to notice that they didn't change the sheets which had a big spot from another guest we thought and were forced to check out the next day to Gateway where we had a great hospitality service , we enjoyed how the manager (Maureen) could handle guests, a great manager she is, we even forgot our belongings which she later sent for us the next day. The food was also nice at gateway lodge, I enjoyed the Domingo dish named after their head chef. The day we arrived and checked in we had to hike to Dziwe lankhalamba and we had a great time, and the next day we hiked to Chambe top through porters race . We also visited Francis cottage at Chambe House where had to rest for some minutes till we started back through the other way of dziwe lankhalamba. I would no be fair if I don't mention of the local restaurant where we ate. Its called Edochie Restaurant , that serves very nice and affordable meals and very smart too. 👌 I would say I had or we had a great experience regardless the dissapointment we got at the CCAP Lodge. They need to do more though. We also had to visit the tea fields. We had such a...

For reference we’re Dutch, and not used to walking up hill, early 30’s and in fair and very good physical fitness… Our guide John helped us up the mountain paths and his stories helped to forget the steepness during some of the climbs, his 20 years of experience really showed us the way.. The watchmen in the huts helped us get the fire started and even prepared hot water to wash and shower ourselves after a long days hike! Lovely! Unfortunately most of the peaks are unreachable due to the slipperiness as it’s mostly bare rock, with some algae growing in the wet season! But the vastness of staggering views on the plateau is well...
