Dear Balung River Eco Resort,
Your resort is located in one of the most beautiful locations of the world. I bet all visitors love the view from the pool and all the hundreds of different types of trees and flowers. There is also so much wildlife we never saw like the black squirrel's, big butterfly's and many birds. You got gold here and should really treat it like that. It just needs some extra love. Fix broken thing's like showers and windows, guest just care about one thing in the room and that is getting clean and sleeping clean. We had a broken window and there were so many buggs like cockroaches and salamanders in the room we didn't want to sleep at all. It's not bad there is no wifi, no continous power or the rooms are outdated, there is so much to see outside. But it's bad it isn't clean. In just 30 minutes before every guest you can clean the room for western standards. That means move aside the furniture to clean all the dead fly's, spiderwebs and other buggs. Clean things like lightbulbs so the first impression is perfect. I'm 1.82mtr and see alot more dirt on top of things than you do haha. Be proud of your plantations, if you tell people about how your kitchen contains ingredients made here they will love it and buy souvenirs like tea. The pool filled with water from the river is a nice natural touch. Overal it is a nice place but with a little effort it could be awsome!

Read moreThis is our last minutes booking. Arrived after 7pm, the staff is kind enough to wait for us to check in. The room is nice, clean, hot shower, air-cond, cupboard, hanging place, shower soap, shampoo gel.. No TV, no WI-FI. The room is using river stone as wall, so basically night time , you don't need air conditioning. No electricity here, they are using generator, hence they have scheduled for electricity usage. Just like Tawau Hills Park, wake up by the sound of birds and hornbills. Is a nice and green place to walk around. Nice landscaping, many different species of heleconias as well as orchids. They have big swimming pool. The suspension bridge was fun to walk. After crossing the bridge, there is a camping site, BBQ spot, river and a big park. It is suitable for family gatherings and...
Read moreWe were so pleasantly surprised by our trip to this eco lodge. We almost cancelled due to the harsh reviews here but we were glad we didn't. It seems that the previous reviews are totally absurd, surely you can tell the place is remote if you look on a map, and surely that is one of the reasons to go here. Not to be disturbed and relax in the forest... Where of course you will find a few bugs, that is common sense! The staff were excellent and very helpful, the food was cheap and delicious and the only disappointment we had was that we spent a long day adventuring to an unimpressive Tawah Hills Park rather than stay in the resort and enjoy the abundance all around it! Thanks for everything, we hope we can...
