The river is stunning . Peaceful and tranquil. Lots of hotels offer boat rides up/down the river. Most people are licenced to take you on a boat . We decided to go with a very nice man attached to a guest house and restaurant unknown to us he had no licence. The day time tour we saw proboscis monkeys and we missed out seeing the elephants but they come out to drink at certain times in the day. The evening boat ride we literally put our lives at risk on the river..to start with before getting into the boat one of our party dropped his prescription classes into the river and as the river at the mooring side wasn't so deep he dicided to jump in to receive them successfully. The next day we learn the river has snakes and large size crocs so his actions were cool hardy and our guide should had advised against it. The guides boat also had some sort of leak and he didn't adhere to the weather change and the rain started to fall quite heavily..add this to the leak for 45 mins I was bailing water out of the boat literally to stop the boat from sinking. I could add more to the miserable evening boat trip but will end by saying Kinabatangan River is stunningly beautiful but please see it with a licenced local guide who speaks good English and has a knowledge of his...

Great place not too far to visit from Sepilok or Sandakan. Plenty of lodges to stay at along the river which will take you on river cruises. You can only see elephants around certain times of the year so we weren't able to see them unfortunately. We did however see orangutans, loads of proboscis monkeys, silver leaf monkeys, hornbills, crocodiles, various other beautiful birds, Civet cat, monitor lizard and many more things. If you don't want to go too far or spend too much money then it's a good compromise to come and visit instead of tabin or danum. The journey there is very distressing as it's virtually palm oil plantations all the way, which are even backing up onto the river. It's a sad...

My friends and I had 3D2N river safari package. I was really impressed by River Junkie work. Everything was planned precisely, we liked clear tour schedule, food was various and really delicious. Accommodation - spacious, clean and has amazing views. We were so lucky starting from orangutan center (meet orangutan mom and baby so close) and we saw so many animals and birds in the wild too. I took great pictures, had very good amount of information, so guides did their job very well. It was one of the best experience in Borneo so far!

Highly...

I felt Kinabatangan River was one of the best wildlife locations in Malaysia Borneo. Was able to witness a lot of wildlife in their natural habitat. Whilst exploring on long boat, you can see Proboscis monkeys, macaques, crocodiles, many species of Hornbill, and fortunate to see Orangutan and pigmy elephant too. Both morning and afternoon boat trips are worthwhile as you’ll see different animals depending on the time of day. Highly recommend visiting Kinabatangan River when in Borneo.
