Maragang hill — Attraction in Borneo

It is a nice short hike to a view point (40mins at a good pace) - it is a really good view for sunrise but was busy -70ppl on a few raised platforms. It is privately operated so you have to register in the town 25 MYR and 100MYR for a guide (can be shared). I followed an offline map and didn’t realise this as there was no signage - in the end they tried to fine me for trespassing (starting at 150-100MYR) and locked up my bike. Eventually they let agreed to let me go to the registration centre to discuss with the manager (a really nice guy who let me explain the situation and let me pay the entrance fee and continue on my way). Bit disappointed the guards were so hostile and asking for a fine that they were clearly going to pocket but technically I was in the wrong and the company did end up coming to a fair outcome. My opinion is to draw attention to the problem. It is unbelievable that the state allows such behavior that a group of people who do not work in a state institution collect money illegally. This office is a mafia. They have no permissions. This tour is a group of people who extort money from you for entry and forced to take a guide. Terbaik. You all patut datang hiking sini… view cantik, udara segar, suasana nyaman dan sejuk. View sunrise dia memang lawa, dekat dengan Gunung Kinabalu lagi memang padu lah experience hiking dia.
