If you're visiting Sabah, make sure to check out this Monsopiad Culture Village. It’s a fantastic spot to get an authentic feel for Kadazandusun culture. Totally amazing! This centre welcomes even solo travelers, and the small group setting ensures a personal touch.
When my group was there, we got to enjoy a lively cultural dance performance and even have a chance to join in. Note that the performances are at 11am and 2pm so ensure that you're there that time for the performance. We've gotten the chance to taste traditional Sabah dishes. Additional note, if you’re not Muslim, you can sample their liquor.
The guided tour is informative and interactive. The guides are friendly and eager to answer your questions, offering deep insights into local history and customs including on the warrior Monsopiad and the notable Bobohizans. Thanks Clarissa for guiding us all along. It was insightful .
If the weather is good, it's even better if we could pass through the hanging bridge, and with more time, to also visit the "paddy storage/herbs house".
Here, you can also try your hand at traditional activities like lighting a fire, or playing sumpit and “lastik tin (like lastik Ayam)”
Overall, Monsopiad Culture Village offers a memorable, hands-on cultural experience. It’s well worth the visit. Contact them for booking (can pay there be it by cash or card, or you can pay through online banking in advance). RM 55 for locals. Ezra who managed the booking was ultimately helpful. Kudos as well.
All booking and planning done, and now you may enjoy the visit. Over 100% recommend visiting...
Read moreI had a great experience at Monsopiad heritage village today. I had Chela as a tour guide and she was extremely considerate during the entire tour and done whatever she could to make me feel like a precious guest. I really felt the customer experience was taken to another level because if her and the entire team's hospitality. I had enough time to see everything at my own pace without being rushed, I could ask questions, try the traditional food, play games, had a nice lunch (outside the entry fee), even tried the traditional cigarettes, waw how the fire is made with bamboo, and a great performance where I could join and dance with the group. Not to mention I could also chose a souvenir (a keyring) of my choice part of the entry ticket (65 RM for foreigners). A more quite place than Mari Mari and less touristic, where you can go anytime during the opening hours to visit, but the shows are fixed at 11am and 2pm. Definitely worth it a visit! Read moreWe had a great experience when our visit to this place. Started at 9am. We were welcome with their great staffs from the entrance.
We booked our slot online and registered at the counter. We were assigned with this one great guy named Andy. Andy is great giving us information related to the place.
Our first visit was the house of skulls. We do respect the rule where we cannot take any pictures while we are in the house.
Next we visited local food booths before heading to the games area. I chose this place because the coverage is a bit smaller compared to Mari-Mari. My parents will not be able to cover Mari-Mari. Thats why i chose this place. The show was great and we do like it.
Foods were given at the cafe for free and u may choose other foods too and need to pay some amounts.
Souvenirs shop is located next to the main counter.
Overall, me and my parents are very happy. Thanks Andy and Jep. We hope u will do well in Melaka in the future. U did great in whatever field...
