I started my hike around 7AM, and the cool, refreshing air made it an ideal time to go. The entrance fee was RM1 for locals (not sure if it’s the same for tourists). The trail is about 1.5 km long and falls into the easy-to-moderate range. It’s well-maintained from start to finish, quiet, and serene, with plenty of greenery, flowering plants, and even a small bamboo grove at the entrance. Along the way, I passed other hikers and trail runners — even someone doing multiple runs, though I wouldn’t recommend that unless you’re very fit. Some of the trail’s highlights include: - Spectacular views — Mount Kinabalu is visible for much of the hike, and you can even spot the sea on the horizon. - Sky tower / viewing deck near the start, which offers panoramic views. The stairs to the second deck are extremely steep, and descending felt sketchy enough that I had to come down facing the stairs for safety. - Torii Gate near the peak, making for a great photo spot. - Small cottages along the way where you can rest. - Triangulation station at the summit (though the survey marker was likely hidden by grass). - Picnic potential — I noticed people even having picnics at the peak, which makes sense given the space and the views. The inclines aren’t too steep, making the hike enjoyable without being overly exhausting. While it’s great for a morning walk, it’s also worth visiting during sunset, when you can watch the sun sink into the sea. For something different, you could even try it at night, as there are a few solar lamps along the trail providing light. Access options: - Start near the radio tower at Jalan Padawan Biau, where many people park along the roadside and walk up. - Take the steeper path from Jalan Suok Dambai Nantazan if you’re looking for a more challenging climb. Overall, Pohumpung Natural Breeze Trail offers fresh mountain air, lush scenery, and rewarding views in a short, manageable hike — perfect for casual walkers, regular hikers, and even those looking for a scenic picnic spot.

Moderate difficulty. 1 of 2 trail for Bukit bendera. Compared to other one, this one not steep but longer. So suitable for biking or running. It's also well maintained with solar light if you prefer night walk.

The view at night is just spectacular, the fog was cold and the silence is worth it. Definitely will go again. Bukit Salib is hard but the pohumpung trail is a sight to be seen.
