The place to see orang utan. Park your car at the ticketing office and get your tickets. Then drive in to the car park inside, don’t walk in. There’s a big car park way in, right next to the center. There’s toilet and information board. Read the know some stories about the individual orang utan before u see them. They are like human. The feeding time is as stated in their website. U should reach the ticketing office 30mins before so that u have time to do what I mentioned above. The staff will guide u to walk into a jungle (mild) trail to where they put the fruits. If u r lucky, u will see 1 coming, luckier for more than 1. I saw 0 during some trips, and 5-6 during some visits. So… good luck. Some ppl may tell u there’s nothing to see, the orang Utan is like trained to put up a show. But let me say this, they are as intelligent as a human, they do this everyday so that are somewhat ā€œknow what to doā€. Nobody train them… it just, know where to pick up then fruits because the routine is repeated everyday. Yet, it is still one of the better way to see them. Your money is not just for u to see them, but I go into the bank account of the group that help preserve this place. So… don’t be disappointed if u did not see any, your money spent make sure that next time when u come, this place is still intact. Cheers.

Semenggoh Wildlife Centre in Sarawak is a remarkable sanctuary dedicated to the rehabilitation of orangutans. Located just a short drive from Kuching, this center offers visitors a unique opportunity to observe these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. The highlight of any visit is the feeding sessions, where semi-wild orangutans emerge from the forest to enjoy the fruits provided by the rangers. Watching these gentle giants swing from tree to tree and interact with each other is both thrilling and heartwarming. The knowledgeable staff provide insightful commentary, enhancing the educational value of the experience. The center is well-organized and emphasizes conservation, making it clear that the welfare of the orangutans is the top priority. The surrounding nature reserve is lush and teeming with other wildlife, offering a serene environment for a leisurely walk. Semenggoh Wildlife Centre is a must-visit for anyone interested in wildlife conservation and looking to experience the beauty of Borneo’s orangutans up close. It’s a truly unforgettable experience that highlights the importance of protecting these endangered animals.

We want to see Orangoutangs in the wild but there is nothing close to Kuching. Do we decided to see the next best thing semi wild Orangutans. We were not disappointed. We went early because we weren’t to sure about the feeding time. My expectation was that the Orangutan would be already in the feeding area with some type of barrier like a fence and the guides would feed the Orangutan by hand. This was not the case. The guides actually just leave bananas and coconuts on a platform. There are really no barriers between us and the Orangutans. The Orangutans that are hungry show up to eat from the jungle. We were extremely lucky we got to see 9 Orangutans over an hour period. Surprisingly they don’t all show up together. There is some type of hierarchy with the older males dominating and when they leave the older females and later the younger Orangutans. That was interesting behavior. It was a very rewarding visit and I was glad we made the effort to go.
