I am severely dissapointed by the park rangers here. Firstly they insisted on shoes on the trail when I clearly stated that my sandals are hikers sandal from decathlon with good grip they still insisted I cannot go in until I buy shoes somewhere or I rent their cheap kampung Adidas which they provided with no receipt obviously pocketing the money. This is a very queer mentality by sarawak forestry staff as in foreign countries they encourage you to wear breathable footwear(open top but with good grip underneath) to hike because it causes less foot sores. Their reason for this is because one person claim to have fallen without proper foot wear. But they forced me to rent footwear for my kids that were obviously too big for them and say put some tissue in front...this is obviously even more dangerous than the footwear they are familiar with. Sarawak forestry should just give a warning that shoes are reccomended and if u should use whatever other footwear it is at your own risk or injury including death rather than insisting on us following their definition of what they think is 'safe shoes'. Btw...it is not stated that shoes are needed on their webpage only on their Facebook page so they also failed in putting information out properly. I also have to remind the department that native people in sarawak used to never have footwear and they were perfectly fine...even healthier. Put some more effort in maintaining the badly maintained park rather than sit around in group just talking and stop harassing people about their footwear.

Nature is nature. It is always beautiful. Park rangers bad. Only sensible person is Stephanie. Park admin. Thank...

The place is good, but could've been better. Agresive improvement is needed indeed. Our lodge (hilltop lodge) near the Inoue trail was quite far from the rest of the homestays. The house looked like it hasn't been properly maintained for quite some time. Barbecue pit was also had to be rebuilt from scratch (lol). Nevertheless, we enjoyed our stay and it was quite reasonable price for a lodge (it was RM 80/night). Our lodge was quite far from the rest, so at night the place is quite eerie since you're the closest to the forest. In addition, lighting at the back of the house didn't work, so that just added more scary value to the place. A decent place to bring your family or friends if you're planning for a quick getaway. Planned to return one day if they fix the place. I hope you read my review dear Lambir Hills National Park manangement. The place is beautiful, but in need of some improvement, especially the homestay. Since it's a national park, you have to pay the entrance fee at the registration booth. Remember the rules, if you found anything inside the park, do not bring it back home. Leave it where it belongs. You don't want anything following you back home right? Just kidding. I mean don't pluck those pretty flowers alright?...

getting to this attraction by self drive car is the most effective way.Begin my day with early start from Miri downtown ,driving through the AH150 ,quite quick for 30-40 minutes then arrive at the ParkHQ at around time of opening. It's easy to register via QR code ,no worried about internet coverage ,using the provided park Wifi ,then I get my ticket and map of trails ,short and effective loop for limited time ,like me, is red, white, yellow loop ,which takes around 2.30 hours to 3 hours to enjoy at least 5 waterfalls and wild flora and fauna ,challenging my physical demand. waking up and down the slope ,down to creek ,for the waterfalls ,Latak waterfall is the most stunning waterfall that flowing down from at least 5 meter high cliff down to the swimming hole. What a pity !!! I did not prepare swimwear and towel for this . During the trails ,it's coverage with mobile phone signals .On my visit on Sunday ,it's a lot of visitors ,most locals . it's my luck that I did not face raining while hiking. it' must be too bad and slippery...

If you've been to Niah caves and thought that the hike there was too easy, then Lambir hills is the place for you. The trails are very clearly marked and easy to follow, but you will be doing some serious butt training when walking up and down the steep hills, decent physical shape is required for all but the shortest trails! We walked for around four hours, with a small break in a hut when the rain started pouring, bring rain gear or clothes that you are comfortable walking around wet in. We only looked at the waterfalls and skipped the closest mountain as that would have added 3k to our hike, might not sound like a lot but when the terrain is that though it can take hours. Highly recommended for anyone wanting to get a good rainforest experience that doesn't require a guide but is still safe. We took a grab to the park and then waited for a bus at the bus stop to get home. Ask the receptionist for help if there are any questions, there's usually a bus every hour or two, and one very regular at 3:30 pm.
