Visited this cave on 13 Nov 23. Cave is home to some bat species and you have to be able to withstand the bat guano smell before you can finish walking through it. Well constructed path but not lit. So you will need to bring your own torchlight. The walk through will take you about 1 hour. Entrance fee is RM5 per pax. Note that this cave is closed on Tuesday usually. Following is how to get there by public transport if you're putting up in Kuching. Made your way to the junction of Jalan Masjid and Jalan P Ramlee. A bus company, City Public Link, operates from there. Take the bus K2 to Bau. First bus to Bau leaves at 7am. One hour ride to Bau Bus Terminal. There's no more public bus to Wind Cave from Bau. Believed that the company has ended the bus service from Bau to the cave. Use grab from here on to and fro Wind Cave. On the return trip from Wind Cave, you will need to be patient waiting for drivers to confirm your ride back to Bau. Took me about 10 to 15mins before I could get a grab driver to accept my booking. Back at Bau Bus Terminal, another hour ride back to Kuching on K2 Bus ride is RM1 per way and the grab rides is about RM10 per one way. One morning or half a day is required when planning a visit to Wind Cave...
Read moreIf you are squeamish about bats please do not visit! Wind cave is full of squeaking bats hanging everywhere! The cave is pitch black and you would need a torchlight. Bring your own or you could rent one for RM5 just outside the entrance. It is compulsory to wear closed-toe shoes for safety reason as there might be scorpions etc inside the cave, You could also rent rubber shoes. There's proper steel/boardwalk and stairs inside the cave, no walking on any actual cave surface. Be aware there are quite a number of stairs which might not be suitable for elderly or those with walking difficulty. Remenber wind cave is closed on Tuesday and nearby Fairy Cave on Monday. Come on any other day except Mon or Tues so you could visit both caves. To save time, complete the online self-registration before coming especially for weekend visit which I reckoned might be more crowded. You could also just walk-in, in which the staff would still ask you to do the registration on your mobile phone there and then. Entrance free is RM1 for locals. Definitely worth a visit but wish there's more informative signage inside the cave itself to inform visitors of what to see and what to look out for. PS: the cave itself is...
