This place is now one of my favourite place (sorry that i even wrote long post that nobody may read). Initially i hesitated to come because there was not many info on this place but i'm glad i came anyway.
During my first visit, i came driving at around 9.15am on CNY public holiday and there was not a single car during my journey from the main road. On the way after entering from the main road, there was a sort-of-sand-stone-mill factory idk and my google maps only showed routes until the gate entrance. From there, i kept driving on the small winding road and it felt like one of those beginning scenes in horror movies (yes, i was being dramatic LOL).
When i arrived at the end of the ~1km road, there was a direction signage in the middle of the road with ticket counter on the right side but car entrance was on the left side. So either you drive to right side and buy tickets and then proceed to drive to the left side to enter the parking area or you just leave the car and walk to ticket counter. The ticket was priced at RM2 for adult and RM3 for a car. The lady at the counter was busy talking on the phone and was not that helpful when i asked for direction.
So, to go to the parking area, there was a small arch entrance on the left. When entering, i was surprised & relieved to see lots of car in the parking area and from there you can see the river.
At the first sight, i really like the place and the areas seem well-maintained. From the parking areas, the river on that area is very appropriate for family with small kids as the water was almost still and shallow. There was also a signage in an area informing the depth of the water (~1m).
There was a stairs area to go to the waterfall area. The paths from the top of the stairs to the waterfall was not proper and may be difficult for some people. But even that was okay for an unfit, non-athletic & non-outdoor people like me.
The waterfall was so beautiful. If you're adventurous you can try on the hanging bridge. But be careful if you're bringing small children. As the bridge was old, worn-out, and not properly maintained. But still safe to walk on it i guess. The waterfall looks magnificent when you look at it from the middle of the hanging bridge. I was too faint-hearted to take out my phone and take photos.
During my visit, there were few families with small children having picnic near the waterfall area. So i guess, the area was also okay for family with small children. On my way to the waterfall, i noticed there was a sign that do not allow barbecue at certain area i.e. near the waterfall. But at other areas was okay and i saw some people having barbecue at other areas.
On amenities, i saw public toilet near the stalls area and also a small prayer area. But i did not go inside it so i am not sure how was the condition.
If you're with families or friends on vacation looking for areas to have picnic, i think this place is nice for that. But if you're an outdoor junkie looking for adventure, this is definitely not the place. If you've been to Kanching waterfall in Rawang, this place is similar to that but cleaner & better maintained.
The place may be difficult to reach by public transport or grabcar etc. And the network coverage was bad when you're in the area. So it may be convenient to drive as it was situated in the middle of palm plantation area.
Was it worth my time & will i come again if i have...
Read moreVisited this maleficent waterfall at Pahang on 12/07/2022. Coincident is public holiday in Pahang and Terrenganu. Can type the sungai Pandan waterfall on Google map that will lead you pass by to this waterfall. So u got to look at that main gate. Do not follow the Google map in full as it is leading you to other side if you follow in full. The road towards the waterfall is ok but there are lots of big size lorries. So drive careful guys. The main gate has a big sign board to welcome you to Taman Eko Rimba Sungai Pandan. This waterfall is basically open everyday except Friday but opens even on public holiday. When you passong through the the main gate, you will see a ticket counter on your right side and you need to stop your car and pay at the counter. The entrance fee is RM2 for Malaysian adult with mycard, same price for senior citizen and parking is for RM3. There are plenty of parking. This waterfall doesn't require for long hike. From the parking to the main waterfall will take you about 5-8mins slow walk. Suitable for kids and senior citizens. I brought my parents there to enjoy the fresh cold water. There is a hanging bridge that stated maximum for 7 persons to cross at the same time but it seems nobody ever care. The waterfall on the background of the hanging bridge has made this waterfall very picturesque!! You can either cross the hanging bridge or choose not to cross. Both ways can lead you to the waterfall also. Plenty of sands with minimal rocks in the water. The water level is not deep just around knee level. There is a swing tying on the top of the tree branches. Not sure if I can support a full adult size weight but some 'monkeys' did play and swing like nobody business. Be vigilant as the tree branches might be broken and fell down on you if your body weight is a little bit heavier. I will try to avoid sitting below when others were playing. The rule stated not allow open fire to cook, please comply to it. The most annoying thing is SMOKERS are everywhere. Despite there are many children were there playing water, those smokers did NOT care. They smoke like a chimney and non stop smoking. Truly annoying and inconsiderate. The fresh air was contaminated and they dumped the cigarette butts on the ground and even into the waterfall! I hope the authority will look into this matter and consider to ban smoking in the public park and waterfall. We chose to come here for waterfall and also for the fresh air. Plenty of toilets are not far from the parking lots. Male toilet cleanliness should be improved! Cleanliness in the waterfall is good. No sign of monkeys were seen during my visit. Will definitely recommended to come here. It is only around 30mins from Kuantan town. Enjoy the waterfall and continue to keep this...
Read moreSungai Pandan Waterfall is a small but beautiful waterfall located not far from Sungai Lembing, Kuantan. It is an area easily accessible by driving. The area is well developed and suitable for people of all ages to visit as there is no difficult hiking required. The entrance fee is also very nominal for locals.
We went there by car at around 10 in the morning, and due to it being a weekend of a long holiday, we were not surprised that there was already a long line of cars queued up, waiting to enter the area. However, the process at the drive-through ticket booth was painfully slow for some of the cars. It could take a car a few minutes at the ticket booth before entering the premises. When it was our turn to enter after about 30 minutes of queuing, we simply told them how many of us were visiting, paid the fee, and entered, which took less than 30 seconds. Made me wonder what the other cars were doing.
The area consists of the main waterfall, a man made dam forming a pool area downstream, as well as a wide, shallow and slow flowing stream following the pool area. People can be seen in all these areas. There were groups of families and friends that brought food and other equipment here to cook and barbecue along the riverbank.
The main waterfall, as well as the plunge pool, was blocked off from access, most likely due to safety reasons. We could enjoy the view of the waterfall from the riverbank and the downstream, as well as on a hanging bridge across the downstream of the waterfall. We managed to get very close to the blocked off area of the plunge pool and found a rock to sit on while enjoying dipping our feet into the cold water. There are small fish in the water that were very curious about our feet.
When we left the area around noon, the area was completely packed, with absolutely no parking spots left. Parking areas were blocked off from entering, while the cars at the ticket booth were waiting for spots to open up. As I was leaving the area, I saw an extremely long line of cars waiting for their turn to enter the area, lining up to more than a kilometer. I can only imagine the frustration of those people sitting in their cars waiting in an unmoving line.
All in all, Sungai Pandan Waterfall is worth visiting if you love to spend time in nature. It is also an excellent place for a picnic. Just make sure to go there earlier in the morning to avoid any...
