If you love nature then this is a good spot to go. Although the last 1.5km to reach this place is a little muddy the views are worth it. Going through the reviews we felt the roads would be extremely bad so we decided go on our motorcycle. But we saw just few patches of road which was slushy and we thought we could come by car as well. You don't need an SUV though.
Once you get off the tar road onto the muddy road, it can get a little secluded so don't get scared by the sight of it since it would last for just 500meters. We were the only group of people at 7AM. Spent around 45 minutes here taking some good shots, enjoying the nature, birds chirping all around, lot of Buffalos. This place is close to the railway track so you could spot trains passing once every 30 minutes.
Good to be here early around 6:45am to catch the sunrise. On our way back we saw more people coming in. Also, you can park ahead where the muddy road starts in case you don't want to dirty your car/bike. But you will be walking all the way on the muddy roads so be ready to get your pants and shoes dirty.
The color of water that you see in most of the pictures depends on the sky, so if it is blue sky then probably you would see blueish shade on the water below. Don't go by the pictures since it depends on the time of the day you visit and prevailing weather conditions. It's a short 10 minutes hike to the top of the hill. Try not to step on big rocks since they are slippery during rainy season but see that you keep your foot on gravel and...
Read moreFirstly - Hard to physically get to by car. Yet you need a car to get to the area as its just away from a main highway road. What I mean is if travelling to the Google location the taxi drivers either won't know it, or when they get to the end of your given route won't take you far enough down the road / 'track' as its kind of off road, muddy etc. So if you get to an area like this just get out and walk the rest (15-20 mins maybe). I'm advising this as our grab driver was trying to take us there and go various ways on his maps but getting stuck on narrow routes with nowhere to turn around! You should turn off the highway on a road for maybe 100 yards. If he won't go further due to terrain, just get out and walk. When walking the simple route is keep right walking to it. Keep left route walking back towards main road/highway.
Grab app - not so good to get a lift back to town / ferry etc as the area is remote. Have a back up driver number ready.
Ok the place itself is easily worth a visit! Free to wander, fantastic views over a lush green setting and the pools of water below. Kids go swimming here. No toilets, drinks etc anywhere in area so only visit with no full bladder and a...
Read moreFrog Hill is the nickname for this abandoned tin mining site/quarry located at an rural area in Tasek Gelugor. Some people have even claimed that it resembles Jiuzhaigou in China!
Before you go check this place out, remember that although the views are super scenic, the weather can be scorching hot, so don’t forget to bring along a bottle of water to dehydrate your body.
Also, a pair decent shoes will help since you will need to do a little bit of climbing to get to the top of the hill – not too long, probably just five minutes.
This place is a panaromic scenery with turquoise blue lakes, away from the hustle and bustle of city. No entrance fee charged and you got ample of space to park your car.
However, do watch out for the red laterite/dusty path leading to this site, rainy days can be worse for the tyre and the hills can be slippery too! If you’re going in the rainy season, dont get dismay with the red clay that is prevalent and unavoidable when you enter the tin mining grounds. You can give good...
