• Located about 13km outside Tenom city, this cultural centre can be accessible by public bus (the one going to Keningau or that direction) or by Grab, Maxim
• The construction of the site started in 1994 and finished in 1996
• It is the biggest Belian, hardwood timber in Borneo
• Not crowded at all, in fact you may be the only one visiting
• The cultural village is not in well maintained, but is in a good shape overall
• There is a lot of Murut art to admire, and several cultural items here and there
• The entrance fee is 10 RM per foreigner, adult (and half for locals)
• Necessary time to visit 1-1.5h depending on how much you want to read and pay attention to the details

Read moreA multi million worth of Murut Cultural Centre completed in 1996 and in need of some serious efforts to make it a major tourist attraction. The introduction briefing, corporate video presentation and 2-in-1 Murut cultural dances were satisfactory. However the blowpipe 'games' was not particularly hygienic as the blowpipe was shared by volunteers and previously used by a dancer. Your lips literally touch the part where you blow it. This is disgusting. Also the gifts/souvenirs shop was in a sorry state with very limited less than ordinary items and none of them are interesting enough to make you want to shop there. The Management should really make serious efforts to improve the shop as it hardly represents the culture of the Murut people....
Read moreGreat place to learn about Murut Culture. It's like a showcase into the Murut way of life including artwork from locals. The entry fee is 5 ringgit for locals and is a great way to spend the day slowly looking into and reading things.
There's unique carvings on each pillars that tell a specific story, a sample of a community house for a village and various artefacts of Murut life. You can spend 3-4 hours here at a time just taking everything in slowly.
