The road to get here is ZIG ZAG, lots of potholes here and there, going uphill and downhill. prepare panadols and plastic bag in case of car sickness check your brake don't speed up because sometimes car from opposite way had to come into your lane to avoid potholes

Imagine this place as consisting of 3 floors: a) GROUND FLOOR - you see a house with parking space and a "pondok" for check-in. You have to park first and register. You can add-on things like canopy, tables etc here. b) BASEMENT 1 - chalet/villa. you can bring car here c) BASEMENT 2 - camping ground. you can bring car here. you can add on canopy/tables etc here too.

Facilities like shower rooms and toilets can be improved. All the locks are barely working and not proper locks all use "gayung" no hooks inside for toilets

a) toilets: located at the end, quite far and secluded. And upsetting because NO LIGHTS. even during the day, it was super dark in the toilets. and no clothes hooks inside. i was scared my phone gonna drop in the hole (i had to turn on flash light)

b) 8 shower rooms in total, at 2 locations. One at the center, and one more even further than toilets. Shower room at center got lights.

c) surau: small but enough. Got sejadah inside. Take wudhuk at shower rooms or toilets

Recommended to bring water bottle because no coway, cuckoo whatsoever. The tap is air sungai, taste weird.

The main camping ground is well illuminated.

The river flow is quite strong because lots of rocks. Perfect for water tubing. Mostly people just play around at the riverbed.

Mt. Kinabalu is on the left side. To get a nice view, you actually need to go to the river (better yet, in the middle of the river)

It has ponds with fish, mini bridges, swing. pretty nice for kids

I chose Polumpung because it has website where i can just book and add-on all the items like tent, canopy etc, without the need to whatsapp for reservation. But , if given a chance next time, I would consider Nohutu because it has a more direct view of mt. kinabalu and seems like a gentle...

The hospitality and the local were truly committed to give us the best experience through our journey! Yeah, no one's perfect, right? I would love to recommend this campsite for anyone who love nature and heal their self. If you don't comfortable or familiar with "camping", there's many homestay nearby that are affordable and comfortable to stay in for a night either the whole week 😊 . Let me share about Melangkap (where the campsite located). The village are located nearby Mount Kinabalu (from my perspective might be 10km away from the mountains). There's many activity that you can do nearby (football, enjoy the view, camping, heal, or just have a small talk with the locals as they are very friendly 🥰). There's cafe too that serve Muslim's friendly food. It's 45 minutes away from the nearest Town (Kota Belud), so be prepared. I'm the local native but staying in Johor. Every years I would travel back to my village, so it's okay to ask me anything and everything about the village (of course I would ask them more details before answering). All of the local are related to me, and they are very nice. Sorry for my broken English, but no one's perfect. But the best part to do is trying 🥰.

P/S : Please respect the nature and the local as we want to preserve the beauty of nature. Keep the areas clean and don't ever throw anything whether it's from your bodies or waste into the river. Use the hospitality given. The local native need the river in...

Here is my honest review on this place - I went to this place on the 7th May 2022 for the 1st time. The place is situated around 80km from Kota Kinabalu en route to Kota Belud via Ranau-Kota Belud bypass road.

The good thing about this place it is quite scenic with Mount Kinabalu at the background, the water is cool and clear (unless it rains), vehicle can get all the way down by the river, camping is allowed, rental huts are available...

Now on the things i dont like - the river is rocky (too rocky)- painful to the feet, also the river is very2 shallow - knee deep only so forget about swimming there, parts of the river runs very fast - a danger to children being swept away by the strong current, the river bank is quite steep and rocky - quite difficult and dangerous to climb down to river, weekends is crowded with people... (see the pics)

*also - if people from Melangkap is reading this, please repair the Jambatan Gantung, it is in terrible shape. That bridge is a tourist attraction but too bad it is in disrepair....

If you also dont like the things I've mentioned, there are other Eco Tourism sites around Kota Belud that you can try - such as those by the Wariu River - namely Tagal Tegudon, Tagal Talungan and Tagal Terintidon.

I've been to all three, the river there is also crystal clear, scenic and is deep enough for swimming. I prefer Tagal Talungan of all the three. Google them...
