Sipadan Island is a renowned diving destination located in the Celebes Sea, off the east coast of Sabah, Malaysia. Known for its breathtaking natural beauty, vibrant marine life, and pristine coral reefs, Sipadan has gained international recognition as one of the top diving spots in the world.

One of the most notable features of Sipadan Island is its incredible biodiversity. The waters surrounding the island are teeming with a wide variety of marine species, including turtles, reef sharks, barracudas, and an abundance of colorful fish. Divers can witness large schools of fish, stunning coral formations, and even the occasional encounter with larger marine creatures like hammerhead sharks or manta rays.

The diving conditions at Sipadan are generally excellent, with excellent visibility and warm waters throughout the year. The island itself is relatively small, offering limited accommodations, which helps to maintain its pristine environment. The dive sites around Sipadan, such as Barracuda Point, Turtle Cavern, and South Point, offer diverse and unforgettable underwater experiences.

In addition to diving, Sipadan Island offers other activities for visitors. Snorkeling is a popular option for those who prefer to stay closer to the surface, providing ample opportunities to observe the colorful marine life and coral reefs. The island's picturesque beaches and crystal-clear waters also make it an excellent location for relaxation and sunbathing.

It's worth noting that access to Sipadan Island is restricted to protect its delicate ecosystem. The number of daily permits is limited, and visitors are required to obtain a permit in advance. To secure a permit, it is advisable to book with a licensed dive operator or resort well in advance.

The island of scam I've been diving for a long time, but what I've lived there has no name To start, if you want to dive in this island, the government makes you stay in one of its 10 resorts, each more expensive, with a minimum of days, when I went, you had to stay 3 days and 4 nights, to get a day of diving in Sipadan Well, so we did ... Once there, they tell me that they have put me the day after my arrival, when I asked them to please put it the next day .. With so bad luck that he made bad weather, the day we had to go, so they canceled the trip to Sipadan. Up to here everything normal But they tell me that I have lost the opportunity to go, because I no longer have any permits and that the next two days, I can stay diving in the small island where we were staying, seriously !? I have crossed half the planet only to dive in Sipadan and I am told that you can not change the day? Not happy with it, they tell me that I have to pay the permit day ... Let's see Malaysian gentlemen, are we crazy or what? You make us stay in a very expensive resort on the days you want, we cross half the planet to go there, you cancel us the dive, you can not change it, AND ABOVE, WE HAVE TO PAY !? Well this is Sipadan, from here I encourage people who do not go to this fateful destination, that the government stays with its beautiful island and that they take the money from the people of their own country Yours sincerely, a Spanish tourist, of the many who...

Great place for diving and snokerlling,a small island but very deep up to 600 meters depth.

You have to be an advanced open water certified diver to get there to dive. Snokerlling and Free Dive are available but have to pay a high price.

Around 750 ringgit for a day tours with 3 dives or 3 snokerlling. All people have to be registered and show the passport ID and certificate to register once you get to the island. There is a limited permit allow everyday,so have to book in advance.

Don't touch or destroy anything on the island.Or you will be fined, there is marine sheriff on the island to watch everyone.Since this is a very precious place and protect by the Malaysia government.

There are different diving points where you could see...

It is a one of the most famous dive shop in Malaysia. But currently it has been hard time for divers to see sharks and barracudas. Popular areas are south point and barracuda point. Normally instructor bring you those locations. But no guaranty to see what you want to see. They said a few years back many barracudas and sharks here. It is near from Mabul island and this island have nothing so just for diving. And protected area so rangers always check our behavior, last 2 days 2 Chinese got summon because holding a rock to take a picture. Please be careful!!!! 🙁 Current is strong so please get more energy to fight against it. Many turtles 🐢 here.
