The museum itself was 'meow'some, but the direction to the cat museum was really lousy!!! Take note of their operating hours, last entry by 1630.

We drove to the public carpark and walked to the basement thinking that the entrance would be there by following the lobby signage, only to find out that those are staff entrances. Then we found printed A4 instruction saying to follow exit (keluar) signage, only to get us to walk few hundred meters more getting to the entrance of the building under hot sun.

Thr local council management could really do better than this. Rather disappointed with the priority they set, them first or the public first?

To those who drive, I would advise dropping your passengers at the entrance first (follow VIP sign to get to the main entrance) before heading to the public carpark, to avoid the unnecessary walk for elderly or young ones.

The museum itself is a full show for cats! But one could spot a few rats too! Whether you are a cat lover or not, it's worth spending an hour here, to read more about cats and experience the cat culture...

Imagine your slightly strange cat obsessed hoarding relative died in the early 80’s and instead of doing the decent thing and bagging everything up, taking it to the tip and deep cleaning their bungalow, you instead carried out their will and opened a museum.

Welcome to Kuching Cat Museum.

Tired, dated, slightly smelly, slightly depressing, very weird and occasionally hilarious.

Go with friends ironically and you can make a fantastic time looking at the 5kg bags of cat food on display along side a picture of Anne Frank (she owned a cat)

If you’re tight on time and want to go to an actual good museum then please skip it and go to the Borneo Cultural Museum but if you’re going to get your John Waters on and enjoy this then you’ll probably already know from the review that this place is for you.

Please retain your low expectations at all time.

I want to rate 0.

It was my first time in Kuching, and I’m a cat mom myself so, of course im excited for to visit this cat museum.

Mind you this museum is like 20 mins drive from the city centre and we rented a car. From a distance you can see the building of this museum is like a tall landmark.

Driving up we try to follow the P signs for visitor but there was a lorry 🚛 parked as if to purposely block the road. It wasn’t many visitors that day. There was another P but for “kakitangan sahaja” so went in and at least park first. From the parking there wasn’t any door to link us to the lobby or anything, we end up walk out a big round the building still cannot find the entrance.called the museum but it went into silent. It was a hot day we end up decided to leave.

Got into the car, we try drive up to the main entrance. The interior look like an old government building, nothing exciting...

DBKU Cat Museum is one of the tourist destination that managed by the government. This place is located at Petra Jaya area, so you need to travel around 20 minutes from Kuching City Center. The admission fee for entry this museum is RM 3 for locals and RM 10 for foreigners. If your children is under 7 years old, the fee is free and if you bring your parents that is 60 years old and above, you just pay RM 2 for locals and RM 5 for foreigners. They just accept cash. For the cat lovers, this museum is so wonderful because it displays various cat collections such as photos, statues, painting, etc that connected to cats. Beside the museum, there is a room that explains the government's project for Sarawak area. I recommend you to come and enjoy the proper museum vibes.
