Legend goes that his elder brother wanted him out of the way for the Brunei sultanate and made him sultan of Sarawak in 1599. He traveled to Johore and became involved in a dispute. Was ejected and shipwrecked on his way home in Kalimantan. Also went to Sambas. His son became the first sultan of Sambas. In the royal palace in Sambas, the sultan of Sarawak is regarded as the progenitor of the Sambas sultans. I've hear stories about this Sultan, but since I was at Santubong, I decided to visit this mausoleum and see this place with my own eyes. Yes, the stories are indeed correct as inside the mausoleum, there is the history of Sultan Tengah, in Malay & in English.
