Pantai Kelanang is a hidden gem along the west coast of Selangor, perfect for a peaceful beach getaway without straying too far from the city. Recently visited and had such a refreshing experience.
β¨ Scenery & Atmosphere The sunset views are absolutely breathtaking β the sun dips below the horizon and reflects beautifully on the water. The sky bursts with a blend of soft golds, purples, and blues, creating a serene and calming ambiance. The beach is framed by tall casuarina trees, offering shade and a more "natural" touch.
π Water & Beach Condition The shoreline is relatively clean and family-friendly. The gentle waves and soft foamy surf make it a great spot for kids to splash around safely. The water isnβt crystal clear, but itβs calm and inviting for wading and light swimming.
π¨βπ©βπ§βπ¦ Family-Friendly Vibes There were many families around during my visit, and it felt safe and welcoming. Kids were playing freely in the water, and the beach had a relaxed, community-like feel. Itβs not overly commercialized, which makes it ideal for picnics and quiet quality time.
π· Great for Photography Whether you're capturing the waves up close or a stunning sunset silhouette, Pantai Kelanang provides plenty of picturesque opportunities. Bring a tripod if you're into sunset photography β itβs worth it!
π Tips
Come around 5β6 PM to catch the best sunset. There's limited food nearby, so consider packing your own snacks or picnic. A peaceful beach escape with stunning sunset views and a calm atmosphere. Perfect for families, nature lovers, or anyone needing a break...

When zoomed in though and with the smell, it's a pretty atrocious place. The selfish beach goers do not care about nature. Plastic, styrofoams, cups, clothes, diapers, and anything you can think of are disposed on the beach, in the sea and in-between the mangrove swamps. A testament to Malaysia's education system / familial discipline (there are exceptions) as opposed to the majlis responsible for the upkeeping of this public space.
If we do our part by simply not littering.. this would make a splendid day trip. 45 mins from central KL.

Β Β Β Read moreI don't know what went wrong, I visited this beach during xmas break after reviewing the reviews but to me it's a very bad condition beach. The beach is dirty, waters are murky, flies are all over the place, some flew in the minute you open the car door. The beach is dirty with trash, looks not well maintained and there are lots of stray dogs and monkeys around. Pantai Morib on the other hand is closed for beach cleaning/conservation til 2026!
Time of visit: Morning, low tide (Maybe it's better in the...
