I went here from Salang. You can't get lost as there are red stripes on trees. I assume they are even illuminated. Just go to the Salang resort and up to 'Banana Hill'. There will be a sign that this path leads to Monkey Bay. The only tricky part was at the end. The mentioned PVC Pipes in other reviews and a huge rock. Underneath was water so I had to take off my shoes (what I would recommend wearing when doing this hike) and jump down. As there is sand and everything it might be different when you go there :) Nevertheless I build a little bridge with dead wood.
For those you are coming from ABC or Monkey Bay/Beach I'll add a photo where to go to get to path. I read the some didn't find the way which is really hard. In Text Form: after you crossed the bridge look out for the massive boulder next to the pipes. You need to get up there. In the photo you can even see the red...
Read moreWe did the hike from Salang to Monkey bay and although it was difficult to follow the path as there wasn’t clear marking, we managed to make it in the end. Use All Trails app as this was guiding us until we got there. Keep in mind that the second part of the hike it’s a bit dodgy with overgrown grass and bushes everywhere so we were a bit scare we might bump into a snake but luckily no such encounters. Just be careful! On the way back, we got a water taxi back to Salang for 20 ringgit each.
Also pro tip: when in doubt, follow the pipes. We trekked for around an hour until we reached the bay. The beach itself is alright but nothing special. Make sure you go at high tide...
Read moreWalk for less than 1.5 hours from ABC and you will arrive here. It's sooooo nice! We had to walk out quite far to get to the snorkeling area. The water is the warmest I've ever experienced and the water is beautifully clear and turquoise. You can then walk further onto Salong. Mind the monkeys, you can drop onto the beach to avoid them on the trail. There was only 1 other family here when we arrived. You'll probably have the bay to yourself. A big thank you to the man that walks the ABC to Monkey Bay trail often to maintain the trail and clean up the beach after storms. Tioman island...
