It is almost a ritual to visit & swim in this beach every-time in Malé
To reach this island you may take public ferry from Male which costs around 5 Rufiya. Upon reaching Villingi it is a very short walk as the island itself is not too big.
The beach is well maintained by the local community, upon my first visit, the shore was filled with coral which made it harder to walk in water barefoot. However, it was cleared by the next visit.
The bonus point is you get to swim with these very curious colourful coral fishes. I suggest that you visit this beach at the dawn (i.e. by 6-7 AM)
Do roam around in the Villingli island to see some nice graffitis, and if you’re lucky enough to approach fishermen fishing early morning. The bait attracts lots of coral fishes and baby manta rays.
