The Djingareyber Mosque in Timbuktu is a breathtaking architectural marvel and a must-see for anyone visiting the city. Its striking mud-brick design, with towering minarets and intricate wooden beams, showcases the unique Sudano-Sahelian style. Visitors often describe the mosque as a peaceful and spiritually uplifting site, reflecting Timbuktu's rich Islamic heritage. While non-Muslims cannot enter, the exterior and surrounding area are still awe-inspiring. The mosque's historical significance as a center of learning and its UNESCO World Heritage status add to its allure. A visit to Djingareyber offers a profound connection to Timbuktu's past and its role as a beacon of culture and religion in West Africa.

Another site to visit when in Timbuktu or Tombouctou as known to the locals in the north of Mali. My guitar instructor said he thought Timbuktu was a title of a song and never thought if it as a place until I mentioned it actually exists.
