There are a few reviews here that would put some off from visiting this site. I think that they are wrong & this site is very much worth a visit. Some have said that they felt unsafe here, please note that this is a cave that's entrance is on the face on a cliff, so if you are afraid of heights or cliffs, then yes you may feel unsafe, as you can see from attached photos there are railings and a cut path with stairs that lead to the cave and it is as safe as it can be.

Others have said it was dirty, there was a 1 empty can in this cave, people do litter, its unfortunate but it happens. The cave is quite muddy but that is because its a very damp cave. Others have written that this cave is in a bad condition, you can see from my photos that its in perfectly good condition for a cave on the side of a cliff, its not a 5 star heritage site, its a cave....

Lastly, some have said it was difficult to get to. If you follow google maps you will end up at an open tarmacked area, park there, then there is a fence along with a closed gate at where google shows the path is, however if you just walk a little bit north you'll find a small stone room and an open gate, follow the path and you will find the stone pathway that leads to the cave. I have attached a map in the images.

If you like caves, if you like cliffs, if you like breathtaking sea views, visiting the sites of old legends & folklore, or if you simply would like to see something a little different from the usual sandy beach or beautiful church, then I highly recommend visiting this cave.

If you read this whole review then thankyou, I love my country & our heritage & I think all though there is a lot of wrong here there is also a lot of beauty...

Too long; didn't read: Have fun, watch your claustrophobia. Maybe only dead ends here. Pls anyone update here should you see the sea from inside the cave (beyond fence).

I'd like to add to the information already here that to us the cave seemed to only have dead ends. After climbing over the fence you'll choose several times when the path splits up. Most of them becoming smaller as you progress. All of them turning out to be dead ends.

But, at least one explorer supposed here that, when inside, there are openings in the rock from which the sea can be seen. We have missed them - unfortunately. So: Please (!) leave a comment if/where you found these promised windows in the rock.

Caution: It was warmer and more humid down there. It added to the feeling of "not enough space" for some of our group. Though I think that it's actually really hard to get lost in there... Just a thought...

Worth a visit. Seems to have once been an attraction but fallen into disrepair. Having read the recent bad reviews; go through the fence to the right of the gate, towards the cliff edge and to your left there are some stone steps. Go down to the bottom, left into the first chamber and before you get to the metal bars, there's a passageway to the right you can follow for about 70 metres, ending at a railing overlooking the sea. There are a couple of very low (but passable) caves running into the mountain, some go a decent way in but you need to be prepared to crawl! Wear decent shoes, the floor is uneven and take a torch or head lamp. 4/5 because its really interesting to see if a little run down (although if it wasn't abandoned it would probably have restricted access...

The cave is officially closed but can be reached. There is a hole in the fence opposite the Maritime building. Climb through and follow the path to the right. After the stairs end, turn left at the cliff and you will find the entrance. After entering the cave, there's a part that goes to the right. Follow this and you will find some beautiful windows to the sea. There's also a legend that an Arab man fell in love with a Maltese girl and abducted her to the cave. The girl was desperate and jumped into the sea, the Arab followed suit. Neither one survived, apparently. Definitely worth a visit, best to go by car.

Very windy, very scary! Hold on to someone or something. As with a lot of sites on Malta, there isn't much in the way of "management". You have to find your own way around and be responsible for your own safety. If you're from somewhere that is more inclined to put up fences, railings and safety notices every 10 feet, then you may be shocked at the absence of this kind of stuff. But just be careful. Be a grown up. Hold onto to small children, and see the world without a chain link fence obscuring your view.
