Good, there is a little molo and stairs to the water. No umbrellas, but you can find some shade under the small wall around the promenade. There are restaurants right on the beach, like Nine Lives when you can borrow a sunbed for 15€/person under the umbrella and stay there as long as you wish. Otherwise is like others beaches in Malta. No beach, no decreasing shelf, just a bit leveled rocks and stairs to the sea. Waters around Malta are priscine blue, ideal for snorkellers and divers. I wouldn't reccomend it though as a family vacation with an idea of a small infant playing in the water. Waters around Malta are for swimmers only and those who don't panic seeing the rocky beds with waves shattering through the cliffs and rocks. It's beautiful. But if you like calm waters with sandy beaches, not big waves, with slow decreasing shelf and a long distance to swim safely, Malta is NOT a swimming location for you. The area where you can swim safely is very small and right after you get to the water, it gets deep really quickly. Lots of fish and marine life to observe, beautiful cliffs, but not comfy for sunbathing and casually duckeling...
Read moreBugibba Perched Beach is another beach replenished with artificial sand. It lies along the promenade, in the midst of tourist accommodations. Before the intervention, the beach was a linear rocky shore with a sharp rock surface. When sand was being considered, the beach was planned to be totally reversible and should the need arise, the rocky coastal stretch will return to its original geological form. 2000 square metres of the rocky coast were transformed into a sandy beach, perched above the sea level. Bridges and ladders were introduced to facilitate access in and out of the water. Full beach management takes place on Bugibba Perched Beach from the 15th of June to the 15th of September. In 2011 the Beach was awarded a Blue Flag while in 2012 it is again being awarded...
Read moreIt’s pretty small, but that was ok. I rally like the “sand” because it’s like tiny rocks which doesn’t stick. Much more convenient with kids. On the side it’s a beach like that where the sand goes into the water as well but that is very small. Most of the beach is stones and you climb into the water from a dock with a latter!
The kids tried the water park in the water. 12 euro for an hour. 8 and 11. It’s was fun but an hour were enough because they were so tired 😅 if you have kids that can’t swim they lend out life vest but they have to be over 6 years old.
Available drinks in the nine lives...
