Imġiebaħ Beach — Attraction in Mellieha

We went for a lovely 30 min walk to this beach hoping to have a swim, it is quite hard to reach as there's quite a steep muddy path down from the cliff top so you can only drive so far (the road is very narrow and poorly maintained so I wouldn't recommend driving). The beach was deserted, unfortunately it was covered in a thick layer of black seaweed, and the sea was full of it too. There was quite a bit of exposed sand so plenty of space for a BBQ, however the sea was basically black with thick weed, so we didn't get our swim after all. If you want to escape the touristic beaches like golden bay then you are right here. We went twice during our trip in June. Both in the morning (around 10:00) and during the afternoon (around 16:00) and the beach was almost empty! I recommend wearing steady shoes as the path is quiet slippery and full of stones. If you easily feel exhausted by hiking I wouldn’t recommend this beach. Definitely bring enough water and snacks as this is a remote beach without any shops or toilets.
