Absolutely beautiful views on a clear sunny cool January day. It is very difficult to get to, unless you have a car or use a company. The 101 bus is irregular and erratic. We gave up and walked 3.1km from the city, some sidewalk, some narrow, rock bounded wall road. There are lots of smelly cows on the last 1km. The road turns into an excellent stone path up to the viewpoint. Well done! And the views are awesome. Bring lunch, drink, and take your time. You could backtrack, but we went on to the neatest bus stop. The path down to Xlendi is marked on Google but is challenging. Also, it is not clear if any of it is private property, nothing marked. There are many some shelters scattered about, I suppose for bad weather cover. But sometimes challenges make it even more memorable. In bad weather or dark, don't do it. In good weather, go slow. You will need long pants (bushes) and good shoes. There are lots of elevation changes, some mud, lots of weathered rock. But you do get to see more precipitous cliffs, complete silence, the swishing of waves 150m below. The omnipotence of the ocean. Makes human life feel small. Amazing. Eventually, we got to the cute town, Xlendi, and lucked out only 15 minutes, and the 101 shows up.

Excellent in every step. A newly surfaced road runs from Munxar; it is walkable. Once at Sanap Cliffs, continue your carefully considered walk to Xlendi. Simply turn to the right and follow the footpath to Xlendi. It takes about an hour to do it safely without coming to harm by slips, trips and falls. Take note! Don't fool around, help will be of no use to you. At Xlendi refreshments can be had from a good choice of snack bars, restaurants and cafes. A bus service from Xlendi is regularly available to take you to Victoria (Rabat). From there busses are available to the ferry to Malta. Take your camera and maybe a small bottle of water. Keep the plastic bottle for the bin please. It's amazing just how pristine and free of litter this place is.

One of the few unspoiled areas around the island where one can view the sunset in the winter months, as in summer the sun sets behind the cliffs of Xlendi. The area is frequented by hikers, dog walkers, bikes and other people. The footpath is close to the cliff face but a low wall is being constructed for safety along the path. There are benches along the way but no bins so please make sure to dispose of any rubbish responsibly. At the end of the paved foot path one can fine some passage ways that lead all the way to Xlendi tower. Do not proceed down this lane at night with out a good light source as most of the paths are narrow and winding.

Don’t follow Google maps for parking!!! The cliffs themselves were nice but I didn’t have time to enjoy as google takes you to a narrow footpath and there is very little room to turn once you realise. If you see a dead end road sign (which says pedestrians only) it means the signed path to the left is pedestrians only. This point is too far and you need to turn or reverse in this tight area and park further back. We ended up following sign of cliffs up paved pedestrian route and fortunately there is space for small car to turn.

Very nice place to visit. We took the hike from then Sanap cliffs through the town of Xlendi and ended up in San Lawrenz (by the bus stop named 'Dwejra'). Really beautiful walk, though it was a bit of a tough climb from Xlendi to get on top of the cliff to where the track was at. If you're looking for a challenging hike, just follow the route from Google Maps that is closest to the sea when you go from Xlendi towards San Lawrenz

Since we already visited a couple of cliffs during our stay on Malta, we didn't expect much or anything new/different. And although Sanap cliffs are more or less the same as all the others, there was something special about this one. We stayed on the cliffs until the sunset, which turned out to be magical. If you have a chance to catch the sunset on the cliffs, I would definitely recommend doing so.
