Il-Widna (the "Ear") is a 61 metre long acoustic mirror located in Magħtab, Malta, of similar design to the sound mirror at RAF Denge, UK. The mirror is aimed at Sicily and was used during WWII to detect incoming Luftwaffe and Regia Aeronautica bombers planning to attack Malta. Il-Widna was built between 1934 and 1935 and is the only acoustic mirror not built in the UK. The range of the mirror is approximately 40 km which would give approximately six minutes warning. One of the most unusual remnants of WWII in Malta.

Sie kam aber nie zum Einsatz, da die Amerikaner kurz vor der Fertigstellung eine Radarstation installierten. Die Empfangstechnik steht immer noch in England. Leider kann man die Wand offiziell nicht anschauen!
