I decided to come back to Comino just so I could do the trails to see the rest of the island since the first day I went there I only stayed in the blue lagoon area. However, I don’t think this part of the island is necessarily worth it to go if you don’t have many days in Malta. It’s a more chilled place than the busy main area of the island, so if you want to scape from the caos this is a good place. It’s also more accessible in terms of getting in the water, so it’s better for kids and families. But other side of the island is more beautiful, and this beach is a bit underwhelming comparing to that. A bit flat. The track itself is beautiful but I went full of expectations and wasn’t amazed like I thought I would be. If you have time, for sure is something cool. But if you don’t, don’t bother.

Beautiful place to relax. Santa Maria Bay is located in Comino and this small, sandy beach is a quieter option than its popular neighbour, The Blue Lagoon, which is only a 20 minute walk away. Even though Santa Maria Bay is not as beautiful and breathtaking as the Lagoon, it is a better option for the bathers looking for some relaxation. Santa Maria Bay has shallow, clear waters and is set just next to Comino’s cute little police station to keep control the boats around Comino. It is mostly the locals coming with boats or guests from the Comino Hotel, as the 20 min walk from The Blue Lagoon can be exhausting in the summer heat. Santa Maria Bay might have some dead algae on the shore due to the currents, other than that, the beach is clean with bins around.

Not busy at all when we went so that was nice compared to Blue Lagoon, where it was packed. It's a 20-25 mins walk depending on how fast you walk so not that far at all. The water was very clear so I'd recommend taking swimming goggles or even better, a snorkelling gear so you don't have to hold your breath. The further you go, the more you'll see. If you go alongside the right hand part of the bay, wear some decent water shoes as the rocks there can be fairly sharp. The swimming spots are even better there and a lot more fishes to see. BE CAREFUL - there were a few Moon Jellyfish in the water but they're not particularly considered to be painful as the venom is less powerful than other jellyfishes.

Very nice beach, we bought the 7 day public transport pass from the airport which includes a free trip to comino with captain morgan boats, which actually was not the best thing! You pay about 18 euros extra for this pass, and you don't get any drinks, while the boat cost is normally 25 euros with everything included, and most beverages are between 2 and 3 euros!

When you get to comino, they set at the blue lagoon bay, which is packed by other boats and doesn't really have a beach, so we took a 5 euro / person round trip car ride to santa maria bay, which is much nicer! You can get two sunbeds and umbrella for 20 euros, or just sit there for free if you have your gear with you. There is food and drinks by the beach, and much much much fewer people! And there is...
