Slugs Bay

Slightly hard to find in that there aren't any marked trails, but worth the effort. There is virtually no beach to speak of, maybe enough for 2 people and their towels, arms most of the areas to sit or lie on are rocks, but it is a lovely calm bay to swim and snorkel in. There are lots of small fish here, and it is an easy swim in to the wider bay, with much deeper water. We spent all day here, and rebuilt enjoyed the isolation and distance from the crowds. Posto stupendo, la spiaggia più bella di Malta secondo i miei gusti. Piscina naturale, grotta con ombra e poche persone. Ottimo per snorkeling fuori dagli scogli anche se, un po' come tutta Malta, non ho visto tanta fauna marina. Un po' difficile da trovare il sentiero, per questo ho allegato delle foto per indicarlo: Una volta parcheggiata l'auto sotto la vegetazione presente vicino la strada, cominciate a camminare verso lo strapiombo e il mare. Una volta lì bisogna andare verso destra dove si vede un piccolo sentierino nascosto da un paio di alberi. Una volta superato questo albero dovrete proseguire sul sentiero che si perde dietro ad altra vegetazione, ma guardando le foto lo vedrete. Una volta preso il sentiero comincerete a scendere fino a quando vi troverete a un bivio come da foto. Lì dovrete andare a sinistra dove si vede un piccolo canneto. Da qui in poi è abbastanza intuitivo. Se avrete la fortuna di non trovare nessuno avrete la grotta tutta vostra e avrete anche l'ombra altrimenti vi servirà un ombrellone per avere un po' di fresco. This part of Mellieha needs a thoroughly clean up!!!! It is too dirty and neglected!!! It is crying for a clean up!!! Plus there are a few dead trees which should be removed immediately!!! What an eyesore it has become!!! Pity we used to love going there but now you can hardly walk to go to slugs bay with all the dirt that campers and picnicers...
