Grand Canyon & Sedona in one day🏜️🌄 Last month we posted a 3 day itinerary that included going to the Grand Canyon and Sedona in one day. We had some people tell us that it was impossible or not worth it! But when you have limited time in the state it’s definitely worth the long day🚙 We took Lauren’s family (including a 2 year old). We knew we wanted them to see the Grand Canyon, because a lot of them have never seen it. We also wanted them to at least see some of the red rocks in Sedona. We had planned to be on the road by 6:30am, but ended up leaving later then planned lol. We were on the road by 8:00am and got to Mather Viewpoint at the Grand Canyon just before noon. We walked around, stopped at the visitor center for gifts, drove closer to Lookout Studio to see different angles of the canyon, and then ate lunch at one of the restaurants. We then headed towards Sedona. We took the 89A down to Sedona to show them one of our favorite drives. It was absolutely beautiful to see it with all of the snow! We arrived in Sedona right during golden hour and it was absolutely breathtaking. We took them to one of our favorite view points of Cathedral Rock (no hiking required). It was a long day, but so worth it for them to see different parts of the state🏜️🌄❄️ • • • • • #arizonaroadtrip #sedona #grandcanyon #arizona #visitarizona #travelarizona #sedonaaz #explorearizona

looking to explore the south rim of the Grand Canyon but don’t know where to start? here are few ideas: 🥾hike the South Kaibab Trail to OOH AAH Point. if you want to get a good taste of the canyon without hiking far, this 1.8 mile hike is relatively easy and affords some of the best views. you will need to take a shuttle from the visitors center to the trailhead. 🏜️visit a few of the many scenic overlooks: •Mather Point offers one of the most iconic viewpoints on the south rim. •Hopi point is touted as being a prime sunset watching location with its incredible vistas and view of the Colorado river. •Grandview point. as the name states, this overlook has one of the grandest views of the Grand Canyon. from here, you’ll be able to see a few prominent buttes including Rama Shine, Krishna Shrine, Vishnu Shrine and Shiva Temple. 🛕make a stop at the Desert View Watch Tower. constructed in 1932, the design was modeled after the architecture of the Ancestral Puebloan people. only the ground level is currently open to the public. 🎨 visit the historic Kolb Canyon Studio perched right on the rim of the Grand Canyon. this structure is a park icon, art gallery and bookstore in the vicinity of the Bright Angel Trail. is visiting the Grand Canyon on your bucket list? #grandcanyon #grandcanyonnationalpark #nationalparkspro #yournationalparks #explorearizona #parksproject

📌 Save the post for your Grand Canyon trip We just recently visited the Grand Canyon National Park during Spring Break. It’s one of those majestic places that we never get tired of. It’s been so neat do go down the memory lane while looking through the old photos and see how much our kids have grown since we first started bringing them here. Here are five things that we love to do as a family in the Grand Canyon National Park: 1.) Walk the Rim Trail: it’s a long 13 mile trail but you can walk any part that you like or are able to. We will usually take the shuttle to one of the more popular view points and walk a mile or two to the next shuttle stop. 2.) Watch sunset or sunrise: one of most popular spots to watch sunset from the rim is the Mather Point. If you want to avoid the crowds, take the shuttle west of the Grand Canyon Village and get off at Mohave Point. Walk along the rim towards Hopi point and find a quiet spot to watch sunset without the crowds. 3.) Hike into the Canyon: only small percentage of Grand Canyon visitors hike into the canyon, however this is the best way to truly experience the magnificence of this place. We chose the South Kaibab and hiked about 3 miles into the canyon (6 miles total) 4.) Watch wildlife: you will not leave Grand Canyon without seeing wildlife. We have always seen elk here, even grazing right along the rim! 5.) Visit the Desert View Watchtower: This is one of the most iconic structures along the South Rim and is located about 25 miles east of the Grand Canyon Village along Highway 64. You can climb the tower all the way to the top floor and admire the beautiful rooms and details that went into designing this structure. Have you had a chance to visit the Grand Canyon? What was your favorite part? #grandcanyon #grandcanyonnationalpark #nationalpark #nationalparks #nationalparkservice #arizona #visitarizona #explorearizona #arizona🌵 #arizonastate #hikeaz #alltrails #nationalparkgeek

There were a few things we weren’t prepared for, even after all my searching online so here it goes! Save this for your trip planning. 1.(& most important) BRING BUG SPRAY! Lol we live in Phoenix so we are not use to using bug spray and having it on us at all times. So, put some bug spray in your pack! 2. Have the America the Beautiful Pass - it just makes sense, has so many uses throughout the year. It’s way more cost effective than paying the $35 parking fee to enter the park. 3. Start at the South Rim, rim trail and Mather Point. The Grand Canyon is HUGE, I know it can be daunting for a first timer to try and plan a day trip so this is my best advice. The views are amazing and it’s paved walking trail which is perfect for little ones. Happy travels!! Hope you enjoy it as much as we did! #azfamilyguide #familytravelblog #visitgrandcanyon #travelwithkids #visitarizona #grandcanyonnationalpark
