It was a great hike, but I don't recommend going if there was even a little rain the day before. From what I heard it is already a muddy hike(with no prior rain) and with rain days before it makes it a tricky hike, there was a section we had to slide down on our bums and not much to grip on to hence us sliding down. We took another route back as we didn't want to climb back up that same spot with nothing to hold on to, to get back up. Otherwise we enjoyed ourselves and just take in that there will be muddy ground, wear hiking shoes as you want to make sure you have the best possible grip and make sure you double tie your laces or you can loose them in the mud (fun times😂) . Will definitely do this hike again but I will be waiting for clear skies and no rain for a week before I go. We started our hike from black river gorges in Tamarin, there are two other routes to the top from other locations that I...

Don’t you dare come to Mauritius and not take this hike! From the Black River Gorges viewpoint go left and you’ll see the entrance. Just follow the trail up and down and up and up - Never stops 😉

Depending on your fitness I’ll take you a bit over one hour or like me, over 2 hours and you’ll reach the tricky part, the last 30 meters. Straight up with the help of a rope, tree branches and rocks to the summit. Magnificent view!!

Getting down was trickier still. Loose rubble, a straight drop down the mountain on your right…. Not for the squeamish (Like me… I was terrified!).

Strange but I had the impression that the way down had more UP stretches…

Beware: DO NOT GO just after it rained. Wait for some dry days before going as the ground will be extremely muddy...

This is an easy one! If you have just a little bit of hiking experience (scandinavia, european alps)this is just a morning stroll!. I did the route that is announced to Take 4hrs in 2.5hrs...with drinking beer at the top...and it was raining the night before and while i was Walking....and i am Not the Most fit Person anymore!

The way ist Always covered by trees about 3m high and there are no alternate routes that one could Go Missing or taki g wrong turns

Yes there are a couple of ropes at the end, maybe Last 200m? but they Just make it easier to get Up there, at Morne Brabant you need to climb sections like this without Help.

Just use regular hiking Boots so you won't have your Sneakers ruined by mud stains (which will Go all the way...

Hi guys, this is my second time on bench 828 , and we can say that 1st is 1st you can't compare with second because our second experience is like we just come to walk here and talk and go home nothing like any adventure, but you can't say that it is not best for hiking. If you love to walk in wood and want to hear some natural sounds like a bird, fresh air, leaf and all who will connect to you with nature the bench 828 is the best option in Mauritius 🦤. we went two time in a group but I never went alone so if someone went alone here please shere your experience because I thought alone experience is better than group. This is my own experience, it is better to go in shiny weather and this trail is for all ages who can Walk 😀.
