Chamarel Viewpoint sits perched on a scenic vantage point along the west coast of Mauritius. These sands settle spontaneously in different layers, creating surrealistic, striped patterns. Over time, rain has carved beautiful designs into the hillside, giving it an almost “earthen meringue” appearance.

A very scenic location that gives you beautiful panoramic views of the west of the island stretching all the way out to the Indian Ocean. Both, a clear day as well as a partly cloudy day with clouds casting their shadows in the valley and on the ocean have their own charm. The problem with this location is that there is no safe parking at the spot. Vehicles have to be parked on the side of a narrow road with just 1 lane each way that has a no-overtaking line marked along the middle. To add to this if one is going uphill then the vehicle has to be parked on the side of the road that has a fairly deep storm water drain...
