Previous reviewers have said all the basics: beautiful, pristine, good for wading and swimming! Here is some more helpful info:

Today, I met Rodolpho, the owner of the land you pass through to get to the beach. He is very kind and his dog, a pitty mix, is sweet. His house is close to the parking lot, which he maintains, along with the trails. Please respect his hospitality!

He closes the road right before sunset. He can’t and doesn’t ask people to leave the beach… exactly… but he closes the parking lot and road, so he’d really prefer people head home then. He closes a gate on the road but doesn’t lock it, so people can still get out.

Tonight I was on the road on the way out and some folks ahead of me saw the closed gate, decided to make a tight u-turn instead of opening it, and got themselves hopelessly stuck in the sand. We were all stuck behind them. If you are on the way out and see the gate closed, just open it, and don’t assume that just because you have an SUV you can’t get stuck!! The road itself is pretty okay, we drove it in a Jetta just fine, just stay on it!!

It really is so beautiful, probably my favorite beach I have ever been to anywhere in the world!

Also note: the wild horses know people’s bags often contain food, and they aren’t afraid of humans. I recommend not bringing food at all unless someone will be sitting with it, guarding it, the whole time. Those horses will trash your...

Yes, beautiful and secluded with great waves. In almost all ways it should rate five stars. Why one star? Because one of those picturesque wild horses almost killed my six year old granddaughter. It was a mare with a young foal which for some reason decided to separate my granddaughter and trample her. At one point the mare was directly over the six year old and one hoof hit her head. We got the mare to move but she continued to come towards us in a threatened manner. People came to help. A video shoot was going on with a large crew which included medics and police for security. The medics checked over my granddaughter, plus there was a trauma nurse from the states who assisted. The nurse told us that she had been attacked by one of the horses the year before. I’m 68 and I’ve done lots of stuff. This was the scariest event of my life. And from we were told this was not the first time the horses have been aggressive. The horses are lovely and can be playful. But please keep your distance and be ready to defend...

This beach was worth the trek it took to get there! A few things to know:

-the road there is very bumpy and has many large pot holes. There are also a few forks in the road and nothing is marked so you have to use some common sense and go toward the ocean.

-there is a parking lot but it is a ways away from the beach with no view of it from the beach so don’t leave valuables and be prepared for the long walk.

-there are nasty little bugs that will bite and leave marks for two weeks. We found that they were farther back where the sand was dry. Better to plant yourself on the damp sand to avoid the bites. This may be seasonal, i don’t know. We were there in February.

-we arrived around 10 and we were the only ones on the beach for the first hour, it got much busier (4 or 5 groups of 2-5 people) around 11. Still a very lovely uncrowded place!

-the beach is shallow very far out. Very fun for hopping in the waves. Keep little ones...

We visited Playa Las Palmas with our guides , Roman and Zuri from the EL Perdido Resort. As reported by previous reviewers the road is bumpy and there is a small parking area and the unlocked gate leading through a beautiful grove of palms with a small running creek. I understand the access is closed at Sunset. It was a rewarding visit and photo Op area. Based on the previous posted photos from 2018 the beach area has developed , from past storms, a rather large sand spit that is easily accessed by stepping through the small creek separating it from the solid land area. It is quite lovely area. Punta Lobos is to the North.
