Took my friend and her children to the rancho last Sunday and was pleasantly surprised. Having never been there I didn't know what to expect. While it will never be mistaken for upscale operations like Finca Altozano it's carved out it's own niche as a quaint charming throwback to a simpler time. It's not a foodie destination, it's a family day stop. The food is simple but good, shrimp tacos, wings and BBQ are some of the staples. A large selection of artisanal cervezas and vino for adults to keep them happy while the kids take pony rides, play miniature golf or roam around on the spacious grounds. Read moreThere is a woman selling breads/cakes at a reasonable price. Banana bread, carrot cake, zucchini cake, apple cake. This made me excited, as I love such breads. Her samples tasted good. So I bought 2, a banana and zucchini. However, when I eat them, I got bad heart burn. (I think she uses too much cheap oil.) This happened every time I eat it. Most of the cakes remained uneaten and we're thrown away. It is a shame, because the woman seemed nice and I love such breads.
