We went with Gaia Xtreme guiding for our trip to Nido de los Aguiluchos. Started before dawn and saw the first rays of light shining on the Monterrey city when we reached La Ventana1 overlook. The view was spectacular, out of this world. The hike up is short and very steep. You hike on a loose rock. After you reach the overlook, you need to scramble up the range using the steel cables, then rappel down (3 rappels). Going down is difficult - it's on the same loose, steep rocks we hiked up. I am in good physical condition but this was my first time rappelling and this was VERY extreme. Super narrow spaces to walk, no easy way to go down, LOTs of scramble. Even the guides said sometimes people come and start crying and become paralyzed since it’s more intense than they expected but once you’re in, you have to finish. No step of this hike is easy.
