If you only have 1 chance to cavern dive in Yucatan Cenote, I recommend Cenote El Pit as the place to experience it. It has a depth of 30 meters, whereas fresh water meets salt water in the middle. When you dive through it, you can experience a halocline. With beautiful blue sunrays throughout the clear water, you can also find foggy sulfur gas at the bottom of the cenote, making the experience even more surreal. Read moreWent on a private scuba dive here. It was really fun. We went to a depth of 120 feet in this sinkhole accurately named “The Pit”. It was really nice diving in the fresh water vs the salty ocean. The area is undisturbed, so the clarity of the water is phenomenal. You can see all of the surrounding stalactites and stalagmites. This is one of the best Cenote dives in the area! But it is also very different to the other ones I have dived.
1st thing I love is it's a lot quieter than the more dived Cenote, but that might well be down the fact it's a bit different.
This is a more advance dive as depths of 40m+ can be reached, and there are no guide lines, when you dive it you will see why.
