The cenote itself was beautiful. It was overpriced and I’m fairly certain staff tried to break into my car. There was damage to the keyhole that I hadn’t had earlier and I don’t think there was much chance for it to happen at any other time. Bad facilities. I am extremely disappointed by the owners response and am updating my review due to it. I have no reason to randomly “defame” some place simply because it is overpriced. Many of the cenotes in the area are overpriced but I haven’t given them a bad review for damage to my vehicle because no damage occurred on their property. The vehicle was parked in front of the ticket booth in clear sight. I had picked up the car that day, and it had been inspected for damage only 2 hours before arriving and I had not left the car unattended during that time. I cannot say for certain staff did it. But I can say it occurred on the property in full view of the ticket booth. A non-guilty party however would usually respond with blame on other tourists, not call me a liar due to their high prices. I will attach a picture of the damage now, due to this attempt at MY defamation. I would recommend not taking valuables to this location, as even if they are honest, they are then inattentive and you do not have a place to put your valuables other than your car, beside the cenote, or behind their desk, which was vacant when I got out of the cenote, which made it impossible to point out the damage or tip the guide, which had been my intention. Although this is a nice cenote, it is overpriced for the lack of lockers or good bathrooms and there are cheaper ones in the area with better security. I would like to recommend one further away that is MUY BONITO, priced only at 125 pesos, and have beautiful facilities, including lockers: Cenote Xcanahaltun. The lady at the front desk doesn’t speak Spanish, she only speaks Mayan. They have a restaurant on site that serves delicious Mayan food. Others in the area are also priced well and worth seeing. Make a day of it going to Ek Balam or Chichen Itza. Cenote Xchanche has a zip line and other activities all for under the cost of Cenote Taak Bi Ha and other touristy ones like Dos Ojos and others around. There are also several beautiful ones near Tulum all under 150 pesos; I saw a caiman in one, several species of fish in all of them, many turtles in another. Nearby Cenote Azul and another one just north of that one, I forget the name off hand; also under 150 pesos. There is no need to go to the ones that lack security or cost extravagant amounts. 400 pesos is over $30 Canadian and that’s insanely expensive for a swim where my stuff isn’t safe. That extra cost should pay for some lockers, I can hook Señor Owner up with a guy for cheap lockers, but he probably can get a better price than me, since he speaks better Spanish. The bathrooms don’t have running water and are gross (Escondido was way worse, I will admit that. These ones were usable at least) and there’s no shower or at least I was not directed to one if there is. I’m not sure how protected this ecosystem is if...
Read moreWe visited this cenote in October 2020. It's on the same road as Dos Ojos. The road does turn into a dirt road once passing Dos Ojos, but the travel is only a little further passed. They provide a nice restroom and of course a shower for rinsing off if you plan on getting into the cenote. They are considered sacred and you must be showered. There was a vendor there selling souvenirs and a traveling cart rolled up with snacks and beverages. We went early, around 9-10am and were the only ones there. You step down some steps into what you think is a black hole. Then the lights flip on and its the most beautiful cenote of the 3 I've seen so far, (Gran, Calavera and Taak Bi Ha). We spent less than an hour here, but you can definitely spend longer. The water is crystal clear and quite chilly. You can see the bottom, but be extra careful of your footing, rocks are everywhere. Be sure to put this one on your bucket list. It's gorgeous. Oh! And the folks overseeing it are SUPER nice...
Read moreIt’s a right choice!! The best cenote. Just don’t miss it out and come early. Tell the guy at the entrance to Dos Ojos that you are going to this one and just follow signs. Spacious parking, some local souvenir shops. The temperature inside the cave is very stable even if in the morning it could be fresh, inside the cave it’s warm! So really do not hesitate to come early and you will have it for yourself. Bring your snorkeling gear, swimming shoes (it’s slippery) , towels and long sleeve shirts if you want to stay warm ans longer in the water. Cash only. You can also ask for a ticket if you want to come back later in the afternoon (last admission 3pm). It was an excellent experience with a particular atmosphere and so many nice pictures and videos. The water is very clear but because of lighting it doesn’t make any sense to film underwater. Just some shots probably. They also provide wi-fi...
