If you don't speak Spanish, AVOID, as hardly anybody speaks English here, and the communication is appalling. They tell you to take a locker at 15 USD to keep all your belongings there. Only wear swimming costumes. Then you arrive at go-kart, sorry, you can't go like this you need to wear a T-shirt. So you run to the locker to put it on and back. After go-kart you ask if you need thsirt for any other areas, yes 2 of them. So we went there first. We asked if it was safe to walk in flip-flops. Yes, yes. We went to ahventura, 2 activities. And they let you go on a rope in your flip-flops. That is NOT safe at all. So you run to the locker again to change your shoes. Back to activities. Finished. Zip Line is closed until 2 pm, and at 2.40, we need to be at the dolphin pool. In swimming attire only, all jewelery, clothes, and belonging need to be kept in the locker. You can forget to go on a zipline, no time. And after dolphins, well, you can only go on a zipline if you're dry. Ha,ha, ha. What a waste of time. Back to the locker. Put everything away, off the river. After the river, we fancied something to eat, right next to the river. Oh, sorry, you're now allowed without a t-shirt. So run to the locker and back. Oh, sorry, you're not allowed wet, so back to the effing locker again. You waste half of your day going back and forth to the locker. Disgusted. As if they couldn't tell you all that up front. How about giving out a map, clearly stating the dress code for each place, so people can actually enjoy the activities. We found it VERY tourist unfriendly. There is no explanation as to what is where and what to do and how and what time. You arrive at one activity, sorry, it's closed until 2pm. So go look for something else. Communication failed. No communication whatsoever. They expect you to know the place inside out and to know what and where and when. The most expensive wasted time. And they do charge a fortune for everything. Yet, you waste half of your time going back and forth to the locker. Disgusted. We spent 600 USD for 3 of us, VIP package with everything included. Everything, but sorry, you can't use half of it. Dolphin experience, again, we're were sold this as a dolphin swimming activity. None of that happened. We were allowed to touch and hold the dolphin and kept a kiss. And that is it. I complained. In fainess, they allowed us one to swim with the dolphin, after half an hour of complaints. So there we go, back to the pool. By the time we're out, it's 4:30 and our bus leaves at 5. So, there are no other activities. It is a rip-off. From 10am to 5pm, we were only able to go-kart, treetop, underground (which was disappointingly boring), river, lunch, and dolphin touch. It is a disgrace. The park has many other activities but if you don't know the place, you can forget about them. No help whatsoever. Disappointed and disgusted. It's...
Read morePretty fun place to spend the day at. You can tell it's not what it used to be when it was known as Wet N wild, but still plenty to do.
Access to the food buffet is included with any ticket purchase and you can go as often as you want between 12:00 and 4:00 pm. Food it pretty good!
There is a general lack of up keep in the park. Several areas are missing large portions of paint. Grime accumulates between tiles on the pool floors and bit of algae or slime can be seen floating in the main wave pool. Not sure if that is because it is right next to a beach or because of lack of cleaning though. However, the grime accumulation in some areas is obvious to have been there for a while. I don't think there is any chlorine in the water at the park. Some attractions are down on a somewhat regular basis and some areas have been abandoned. Several restaurants are empty and there are only 3 places you can get food (the main buffet which is a free, a small burger grill set up in the corner of an empty restaurant, and an ice cream/snack stand. You have to pay for the latter two). A few areas were rides once we're are cleared out as well and are just empty and unused. There are some pretty cool attractions thoughts sick as a suspended bridge course, zip lines, go karts, and a roller coaster (that was down when we went).
There are three ticket categories that you can purchase (fun, vip, and platinum). we did VIP. The latter two include dolphin interactions that are pretty lackluster in our opinion. You do it groups of 8-12 people and the interactions are pretty limited. Not worth the extra money in our opinion. VIP and platinum also include access to go karts, and underworld. We didn't end up going to those though. There are other things included with each ticket level as well. We bought our tickets ahead of time and got a slight discount, but it's just as easy to buy them at the park. We actually missed out in a mother's day discount where mothers got in free because we bought ahead of time.
The park has some weird rules like not allowing kids past a certain point in the wave pool at any time even if they are wearing life jackets and requiring shirts and shoes on everyone before going into the buffet.
Overall it was a fun way for our family to spend a day in Cancun, but we wouldn't go back to it again. The park has a kind of outdated feel to it and we felt like it was a poor reflection of what it probably was while still known as Wet N Wild. If you have been to Wet N Wild in the states, it's not the same and you can expect some differences, but if you are going for some water fun it can be...
Read moreI'm trying to think of how to start this review. I'm not saying I wish I didn't go, but I'll definitely never go again.
We took advantage of the 40% off saving for the summer for the Platinum Pass - myself and my wife with our kids (16 & 12) and two of our friends. We bought our tickets online to take advantage of the savings. Nevertheless, when we got to the park, after circling around three times to enter the correct entrance which was not correctly labeled, we had to stand in line for about another 30 minutes so that we could get wristbands and complete the check in.
Although our Platinum pass came with unlimited alcoholic drinks, we had to stand in line for about 20 to 40 minutes each time to get a drink because there was only one bartender serving at either of the two locations. This was obviously not necessary as they had other staff available, but it is a ploy to make sure that no one gets more than they pay for.
Online there is no indication whatsoever about any weight limits for any of the rides, including the zip line. Once we got there, all of the zip line and associated activities have weight limits that prevented a few in our group from being able to do. That said, those within the weight limit enjoyed the zipline.
In the food court, the buffet food is actually decent and I don't have any complaints.
Regarding the unlimited soft serve ice cream, the dollop a little on top of a cone but don't fill it (unless you ask).
The go karts are slow, but ok. The roller coaster was ok as a lower end coaster. The water slides were pretty decent actually.
After talking with one of the employees that seemed to have manager status, he tried to give us a bit of compensation for the negative aspects of our visit. He wrote on our wristband a code which gave us a visit to the game room. We were given the options of the mission impossible laser arena or the Star wars video game. We chose the mission impossible laser game, but it was really a joke; I don't suggest it at all.
Overall, I am very glad that I didn't pay full price, but I can without a doubt say that I will never go again. All of my friends have said that I should go to Xel-Ha and that is definitely where I will go next time. Collectively, we rated Ventura Park a 4/10 and my friend rates...
