Generally speaking, I think every archaeological site is worth visiting. The reason for my low rating of this one is the behavior of the people who work here. First, even though a sign clearly states that professors are not required to pay the entry fee, they forced me to pay. That's ok. I prefer to support conservation work. What was worse is that they tried to force me to pay extra to take photos (even only with a phone) and then followed me around the whole time to police me and make sure I didn't take any photos. I don't see the point of this at all. It's not like photos (without flash even) are going to harm the carved rocks here. Lastly, the archaeological site itself is just a lumpy field. The only reason to come here is for the carved stones which i think they should move to Santiago Tuxtla so more people can see them. It's not easy to reach this site. The...

When we arrived we were a little concerned that it was closed. Upon speaking to the watchman there we discovered that the curator had run to Santiago for an emergency. Luckily waited around (about 30 min) and the curator returned. Incredibly happy we waited. The curator was patient, kind, and extremely knowledgeable of every piece there. He explained and pointed out every detail on the pieces within his museum. He also indicated where secondary or "other halves" of broken artifacts could be found (Mexico City & Santiago). The roads were tough, it is off the beaten path, but for us, it was...

Awesome museum. Way off the beaten path and you might be the only one there. The guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. We had a great time getting up close with the artifacts. It felt like a place out of time

Closes at 4:30pm. Great head! Some nice Stella and statues. It's about a 30 minute rode from Santiago Tuxtla by taxi. I paid 450 round trip. There was a charge to take video. It's a nice drive to get there.
