El municipio de Uayma, Yucatán ubicado en el oriente del estado de Yucatán es un bello municipio distante a 12 kilómetros del también municipio de Valladolid. Uayma tiene un ex convento que embellece su plaza, éste convento fue uno de los primeros espacios usados por los evangelizadores en la época de la conquista para sumar más miembros de la población maya al catolicismo. Se tiene información de que éste convento fue construido con las piedras de construcciones mayas. Sin duda, este convento tuvo un lugar sumamente importante en la época de la evangelización inicial en el periodo de la conquista española. La arquitectura del convento sobresale por la belleza de las ajaracas (los adornos que cubren su exterior e interior) que sobre sus paredes están visibles a buena distancia. Hace algunos años se restauró la nave principal y desde entonces es un lugar visitado por turistas nacionales y extranjeros. Este convento, representa un lugar importante para visitar en las vacaciones, y pasar una mañana visitando otros lugares del municipio de Uayma que serán sin duda una experiencia que se agradecerá vivenciar. Uayma is a very small town, about a 20-minute drive southwest of Valladolid. The main square is beautifully maintained and has mature foliage if you need to escape the sun.
