Cute waterfall on the river. There is zip lining and someone was set up taking photos that you could print at the place under a small shelter. Nice shade for chilling down at the river.
We arranged with Gaya's guesthouse a way to stay with a local nomadic family nearby, and rode horses to the waterfall and back in the same day, eating lunch at the horse guide's gers midway, near the waterfall.
The waterfall itself is somewhat mid I guess, but Mongolia doesn't really have a lot of different things to see than just normal Steppe with hills and plains, so it's nice for a change in scenery.
There is a no swimming sign in mongolian so I couldn't read the details, but someone brought an inflatable boat, and I saw some people wading. I guess the current can be a bit strong.
It didn't seem particularly dangerous to swim for me, but I am a very strong swimmer which I would assume is rare among the Mongolians simply because they don't exactly have a lot of access to water (I might be wrong). Directly underneath the waterfall would certainly be sketchy though due to possible downward currents, so I wouldn't recommend swimming against the advice of the sign, unless you were sufficiently in the river and away from the falls themselves.
Also certainly dependent on the recent weather conditions! It has been quite dry lately I heard and so probably if the weather was more normal it would be a lot stronger and probably...
Read moreOne of the key attractions in the area, linger longer and enjoy the place. Walk around to the river side and jump the rocks to the middle for a really nice view of the Falls. Then loop back around to the horse parking side and you'll find a path down to the valley floor. There are actually two, the hard one (the first one you'll come to) or a much easier one either on a ways. I took the hard one down and then discoverer the long trail along the river to the easy one, and took that up. Carve out at least two hours to hang out and just enjoy the beauty. This place needs a good rafting company to set up and let you tube the river. I'm guessing the season is too short. They do have a. Zip line down to the canyon floor though. I figured I'd leave that to the locals and their health care system for the times it didn't work...
Read moreVery peaceful and tranquil place. We stayed with a nearby nomad’s family and it was a 30 minutes leisure walk to see the falls itself. I expected to see a tall waterfall coming from above us but it was actually going down into a cliff so you can’t imagine there was a waterfall there till you see it. Our guide brought us round to another side of the cliff where we got to walk down the stream to enjoy the fresh spring water. We walked along the stones hopped from one to another and made our way to the bottom of the waterfall. We sat there on the stones admiring the view and the roaring sound of the falls. We spent about 2 hours there. We went back on our own later again to visit the stream before falls. Had a very peaceful time there. Good to recharge. I gave 4 stars because like I said, I expected a towering falls but it was...
