Whilst staying near to zabljak we decided we would hike Bobatov Kuk. The decision was made a little last minute but it would’ve been made easier with some clearer info!

Start of the walk- We started from ‘Seldo Parking’ as it is named on Google maps. There are a few pins marked with similar names but you are looking for the one that is at the top of the seldo mountain pass, this is said to be the best starting point for more intermediate hikers from our understanding.

When to start- As it was July, we got up early and started the walk at 6am. There was only one other car parked at the top of the pass at that time but it turned out to be VERY good move as once the sun comes out on the way back down it is HOT. We passed a lot of people on their way up as we came down that were definitely not going to enjoy the heat on their way back! (Don’t start too late!)

Route- Route is marked with red dots and is quite easy to follow however maps.me app was helpful earlier on in the hike just to make sure we were on the right route.

The hike is varied in terrain but most of it quite technical such as rocky inclines or areas with sheer drops. There is a roped section close to the start which is fairly similar to what you will encounter near the top. No harness needed but a fall in these areas could potentially be bad so take care and take it steady.

We are both quite fit although not huge hikers, the walk was a good challenge for us and the technical bits were a little bit intimidating but doable, we just took it steady and with care!

The total distance of the loop was 5.5miles for us and took around 6-6.5hrs to complete. We wore grippy sport trainers which were adequate for the job in dry conditions. If it was wet I would be very reluctant to suggest doing the walk without boots and other equipment.

Even if you don’t get to the summit or it is super busy for the final roped section, there are some great views to be had and it’s worth getting as far as you can manage.

Great views at the top even when we had a bit of cloud, would recommend the...

I will start with two things: My bag was lost between flights, so I only had some summer clothes and trekking sneakers. due to that, I will only describe first and easier part of the trail. I'm quite fit, but I don't have much experience in mountain trekking. When: 30th of August, start around 7.30 Where: from Sedlo to the stone marking 1,5h to the peak Time: 3 hours 20 min including short breaks for water and 10min break for snack

In Sedlo you will find small parking where Guard will collect fee for entering National Park (3€/person). Keep the ticket, you will need it to go to the black lake. Trail is really well marked, you just need to be careful at crossroads, because all the trails are marked the same (red dot with white center) For sure you need proper hiking shoes-trail was quite slippery and rocky. There where parts I wished for better shoes than terrex sneakers. The weather was changing constantly. From cold and windy to sunny and hot. Definitely you want to wear good hiking clothes. Climbing gloves could be useful. It was not crowded , but few people started with me. Sometimes the path is narrow, so if you've got good rate you will need to wait to overtake. If you need ' bathroom ' brake you have to find a hidden place between rocks. Near the start there is a part of a trail which you have to climb using the rope installed in the rocks. The views are amazing, especially when the weather is fine and clouds aren't covering...

Bobotov kuk is 2525m high and the highest peak in Montenegro. The best hike is during summer months July and August, but September hike can be great if the weather is OK. There are 3 hiking trails leading to this peak and each of them is guaranteed adventure. First and the longest one is starting from Crno jezero (Black Lake) and it takes five and half hours hiking. Second one is from southern part of Durmitor mountain starting from passage Sadlo and takes 3 to 3 and half hike to the summit. The third and by my opinion the best one is starting from Dobri do - Sarban camp site. You can spent a night before the hike and take advantage of early morning hike to reach the summit in just two and half hours. The view from the peak is magnificent and in clear day you can see the most of the Montenegrin mountains, even those close to the sea. Also, you can see a large portion of mountain peaks in Serbia and Bosnia. The most beutiful sight is Durmitor mountain itself and astonishing canyon of Tara river. This hike offers different routes for return to Zabljak and many fresh water springs and one small lake called Zeleni vir (Green source). If you are spending some time in Durmitor area this is a must visit place. It is physically demanding but it's all...

Lovely hike in Montenegro with stunning scenery. Big recommendation if you are in the area and look for challenging but rewarding day hike! ⛰️ We (m, 26; f, 24) started from the parking spot (labeled 'Mountain pass Sedlo' on Google), ascended into the basin and followed the trail until we reached the bottom of the final ascend to Bobotov Kuk. From there its all about endurance and patience. Take your time, find your pace and you'll slowly ascend to the top. I agree that the final sequence is a bit sketchy but I would consider it still absolutely doable for almost everyone. Select your steps carefully and you'll be rewarded with a beautiful 360° view of northern Montenegro. ----------------------- Timings Parking - Bottom of Ascend 1H00 Bottom of Ascend - Summit 1H10 (2H10 total) Summit - Parking 1H50 (4H00 total) Note: we are fit hikers/climbers, so these times are not representative for everyone. Also, find attached the route and the hight profile.
