We arrived at Maja and Misko's Granet Winery in the early afternoon after climbing a narrow path up the mountain we reached a point from which it was not possible for the vehicle to ascend, so we climbed a set of stairs to an ancient, magical villa and a courtyard hidden under vines. I would like to mention Kristinja, who owns a boating and birdwatching business on Lake Skadar. Kristinja is a charming and incredibly helpful person! As it turned out, we weren't disappointed. In addition to being an agronomist and technologist, Misko comes from a wine-producing family, which dates back 14 generations. Maja and Misko grow grape varieties unique to Lake Skadar, without winking at the western palate by importing varieties not native to the region. The wonderful Maja served us the wonderful wines accompanied by local tomatoes with a wonderful taste along with a tray full of cheeses, all of which are made by traditional, non-industrial dairies, along with cookies that Maja makes and topped with fine olive spread. The conversation continued with Misko telling us about the family lineage and the history of the wine and vines. The growing is done by Misko himself. As we drove to Granet Winery, we passed by a winery that opened at 16:00 but seemed touristy to us, and we were looking for an authentic winery to experience local culture. This is a very good choice if that's what you're...
Read moreThe entire experience was absolutely fantastic! Honestly, it exceeded both mine and my friends’ expectations. We had the pleasure of tasting four different wines—white, rosé, orange, and red—as well as four varieties of rakija. The host was incredibly welcoming and took the time to explain the entire production process with great passion.
And the food—wow! Every single item on the table was a masterpiece. The host baked the bread fresh that very morning; it was unbelievably soft, like biting into a cloud. The cured ham was rich and flavorful, and the selection of local cheeses was simply divine.
To top it all off, we were served a delicious homemade brownie—hands down the best I’ve ever tasted. As a lovely surprise, the host gifted us a bottle of wine to take with us and continue celebrating the hen party.
This experience is truly priceless. The winery, nestled in a charming mountain village, offers breathtaking views that make the visit even more special. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone looking for a unique and...
Read moreIncredible experience - one of the best things we did in Montenegro! Intimate wine tasting at a small local winery in a tiny village, it is a beautiful setting in the mountains by lake Skadar. Misko was a fantastic host, it was a true pleasure speaking with him about his wine and Montengro! It was an incredibly relaxed setting and experience, the wine and food were both delicious. We tried four wines, Rakia and 3 liqueurs and thought is was great value for money for a private wine tasting experience. We would highly recommend the experience! (We were staying in nearby Virpazar, which doesn't have a local taxi company, but our hotel was able to easily arrange a taxi to and from the winery, so it was very easy to get to and from). Thank you Misko, this was the perfect way to spend our last day in...
