In the heart of the Skadar Lake National Park, Pavlova Strana (lookout point) is a scene that takes your breath away - the Crnojevića River forms a perfect "horseshoe", and the green slopes and water drowned in silence look like paintings. Photogenicity is second to none; it is no coincidence that this is perhaps the most famous view of Skadar Lake.
The experience is special in the golden hours: early morning and late afternoon give the softest light and the most beautiful reflections in the water - ideal for photos and a short stay with a view to remember.
Access is possible by car; the road is narrow, winding and in places one-way, but it leads straight to the point from which the entire "horseshoe" can be seen. As a landmark, many also mention the old/abandoned hotel building, next to which you can stop and park. It's worth every minute of careful driving.
In short: an absolute recommendation for everyone who loves nature, photography and peace. Bring some water, come when the light is softer, and leave enough time to just...
Read moreThe Pavlova Strana viewpoint If you continue straight to the viewpoint without stopping in the village, cross the river and turn right in the 3-way junction. Follow the road up in the mountains. The viewpoint is not signposted so drive slowly while paying attention to the view and you will know when you are at the spot. You get stunning views from several places along the road and there are two options for parking. The first one is just a pullout from the road and it has room for a few cars. At this spot, you are closest to the river and it is easy to just step out of the car, take in the view and snap some photos.
Unless you have a camera with a wide-angle lens, you will have to make a panorama to fit the whole scene. At this spot there can also be vegetation obscuring part of the river. The view is gorgeous though, and the photos turned...
Read moreA really nice day so the views are as good as others say but horrible and very stressful drive (makes the P1 switchbacks up to Mt. Lovcen seem like nothing) . We've driven mountain roads in many different countries and this is by far the worst - whichever way you choose. The road from the M2.3 to the viewpoint is a one car width lane and a series of incredibly tight and short switchbacks with very very few pull offs to pass and NO barriers. The road from the west side is a tiny bit better and paved, but very ill maintained. My advise if you have to go, have car rental insurance and get...
