There is a coastal city in Morocco called Agadir, which is one of the most important tourist destinations in the country, famous for its beautiful beaches, luxurious resorts, modern commercial areas, and rich cultural heritage. The city includes an ancient city called "La Médina" or "The Old City" known as "Agadir Oufella". The Medina was built in the 16th century and was once a major commercial center in the region. It included a fort, a market, a mosque, traditional houses, narrow streets, and a maze of alleys. After the earthquake that hit the city in 1960, the new city of Agadir was built in the adjacent area, and the old city of Agadir became a site for tourism and cultural heritage. The Medina is known for its traditional architecture and is home to many interesting tourist attractions, such as the old Agadir fort that was used to defend the city in the past, and the Mohammed V Mosque, which is one of the most important mosques in the city and boasts a beautiful and unique design. The Medina also includes many shops and craft workshops that sell many traditional local products, such as textiles, perfumes, jewelry, and other handmade items. Visitors can enjoy strolling through the narrow and maze-like alleys and learning about the history of the city and the local culture. Overall, Agadir city and its old Medina are a wonderful tourist destination in Morocco, where visitors can enjoy the beautiful beaches, luxurious resorts, and diverse entertainment activities, as well as visit the old Medina and learn about the history of the area and the local culture.

Medina... What can you say. A lot and not much at the same time. Anyone who wants to visit this place should know that it is located a bit off the beaten track of Agadir. The best way to get there is by taxi. We went for a walk and the route was over 6 km long She was tiring. The place itself is not quite ready yet. Many of the shops hidden in narrow passages are not open. You can see that the facility is constantly being expanded and this is not the last word of the Moroccan. The entry cost for a person over 12 years of age is 40 dircham. Remember about cash. At least when we were there, card payments were not possible. Is that a lot? Not necessarily. Honestly, however, it must be said that this point is not for everyone. There are food outlets inside and the handicraft sellers are not too pushy. Unfortunately, the smells are terrible, there is only one toilet and I won't mention its standard. On the way to the place, we pass people trying to give us a ride in a local version of a tuk-tuk.

Beautiful reconstruction of the old Medina town of Agadir that got destroyed in a devastating earthquake around 60 years ago. Very quaint with nice small shops throughout aswell. Beware as most of the shopkeepers will try and extort western tourists to the max and act offended when you challenge their ridiculous prices (something quite common throughout Agadir unfortunately), however there was one small leather shop in the Medina where the humblest shopkeeper makes wonderful handmade shoes from camel, cow and goats leather with very reasonable prices that I would whole heartedly recommend to any traveller. Just be careful in the other shops. At the back of the Medina town many peacocks roam freely among wild Aloe Vera plants and it is quite an experience to wander amongst them. Great for photos! We didn't get to try the restaurant here as we visited during Ramadan.

The Medina itself is beautiful but I have visited for years and no improvement. Most of the shops are empty. I don't recommend the restaurant the service was mediocre and it's always very slow, there is a lack of staff. I ordered turkey skewers I got 2small ones very dry, tasteless with an inedible spoon of yellow rice with cinnamon and a slice of onion an caspicum, but we are in Morocco not in some gastronomic restaurant in France or Italy, clients should not leave hungry. We asked a spoon we never got it and twice for sauce, got some ketchup and mayo that my daughter went to bring herself. She ordered vegetables tagine and insisted on veggies with chicken tight, just to receive a chicken breast with zero veggie . After a 25minutes wait she got back the same chicken breast with some veggies on top. The chicken pastilla was nice though.

Before going you should realise this is not authentic, and was rebuilt in 1992 after an earthquake destroyed the original. This place is small and is not really a medina in the traditional style. It is definitly a stylised/ idolised version , which does not show the ravages of time nor a history of people living and working here. Nevertheless it's worth a quick visit. A petite taxi from the centre cost about 60 dirham (6 Euro) and entry is 40 Dirham (4 Euro). Its nice though and there is some niice flourishes in certain sections. There is also a small restraunt and the ususla few souvenier shops. Its in the middle of nowhere and takes over 80 minutes to walk back to the centre so I would recommend booking a return journey with your taxi driver an hour later if not planning to eat here.

The remarkable 5 hectares Medina was completed in 2007 by the Moroccan-born Sicilian architect, Coco Polizzi and dozens of Moroccan craftsmen following centuries-old techniques. Each stone is laid by hand, and the buildings are made of compressed earth blocks from the Souss, slate stones from the High Atlas, and local woods such as thuya, eucalyptus and pine. Decorations follow Berber and Saharan motifs. You can find a variety of mosaic craftsmen, painters, jewelers, metalworkers, and carpenters in workshop nooks throughout the medina. The medina also houses a restaurant, shops, and even an amphitheater. Had a beautiful day strolling around the medina observing the magnificent architecture, the cozy tunnelled alleyways, and what have you.
