So much time and money invested into this museum but made so inaccessible. The website doesn’t let you pick the language of your tour and you have to wait an unspecified time for a manadatory tour. You can’t explore in your own time and are rushed through each information board very quickly. The VR room and cinema are wonderful. The actual displays and information are very interesting but without allowing people to explore we don’t get to learn anything about the actual seerah. They tell you that there are thousands of ahadith on each interactive board or examples of different attributes but then we aren’t given the opportunity to explore them. A museum should give you a chance to learn. It’s like telling you what is available but you’re not allowed to see it.
The museum has no sign outside, and you are forced to go through a back entrance that is not pushchair or disability friendly. Then you sit in a waiting area that feels like a government waiting room until the tour starts.
This has the potential to be wonderful but is completely inaccessible because of extreme gatekeeping and control. It’s less of a museum and more of a PowerPoint...
Read moreAbsolutely amazing exhibition. The display with latest technology is stunning. The research done to include only authentic hadith sources all in one place is breathtaking and spiritually uplifting. A must visit for all Muslims and it is free to enter! The exhibition includes a display hall, a movie, and a virtual room of the Prophet's home. I really hope they are true to their word that the exhibition will travel to other countries in the future. So much to learn from the beloved Sunnah. I'm English speaking and they had English speaking guides to take me around. Unfortunately security is really tight and they don't let you wonder through the exhibition in your own pace - I could have spent 3-4 hours there but the guides push you along very quickly, which is the only sad part for me that I couldn't go through all the virtual interactive display exhibits. You may need to book a day in advance on the exhibition website (for free) so that a guide is available to take you around. There are many books to purchase on site, with varying prices, but only cash is accepted. Photos are mostly not...
Read moreI visited this museum last week with my family, and it was a wonderful and enriching experience. Even as Muslims we learned new things about the life of our beloved Prophet Muhammed (May Allah's blessings and peace be upon him).
We chose the English tour, and since we were the only ones in our time slot, we basically had a private tour with our friendly guide, Mohammed Maghnan. His storytelling was both engaging and informative.
It was particularly nice to see that the museum emphasizes the encouraging sayings and teachings of the prophet Muhammed (PBUH) on contemporary societal issues, such as women's rights and interactions with non-Muslims. This is especially important in our current time, when some foolish and ignorant individuals falsely claim that Islam promotes the opposite.
After the tour ended, we had the opportunity to watch a short biography of the Prophet (May Allah's blessings and peace be upon him) in the cinema theater.
NOTE: the museum is free but make sure that you reserve your spot...
